first of all, this is my second grow.

on my first grow, i did not keep them in complete darkness in the beginning and had temps around 75-79 f.

i got 4 out of ten jars clean and birthed.

i got one flush of cambodians from each cake for a total of about 40 mushrooms.

yes they were good.

i spent more time on my recent second run with cleanliness and preventing contamination.

I placed them in a container (21 jars in a "fresh step" 5 gallon square kitty litter container) and covered it with a large towel to block out light then placed on a black winter sweatshirt over that.

i had them in 75-79degrees F due to the fact that higher than 86 will kill the mycelium.

i let them sit like this for 2 weeks. i checked them periodically but maintained as much darkness as i could.

after 2 weeks i was disappointed from the lack of growth.

i keep a small thermometer in the bucket and check it every two days to see what my temps are.

i have since moved my container onto a cinder block and keep it closer to my furnace.

i now maintain temps closer to 85f.

within 3 days of doing this, the mycelium has taken off with much better results.

i will post pics in a couple of days on my own thread.

i think i will be ready to birth within a week if this rate of growth keeps up.

so in summation, if you boil your jars well, and spend plenty of time preventing contamination AND you have slow growth, you might want to increase your temps. a little.

NICE ! It looks like we'll both be birthing something soon. you should come down this weekend. Im going to be boiling 24 jars. Hopefully we can put our spore kits to use soon as well

Between you and Lig and Jollygreen I think I want to try my hand a growing shroomies. My wife is going to beat me.She's not real happy about my green thumb, this is going to push her right over the edge.
I've spent the last couple of days reading about shrooms and different grow teks, is there any truth to the smaller mushrooms being more potent then larger ones?

Aborts, which are like the little mushroom pins that don't quite grow out into full grown mushrooms are typically very potent in psychedelic goodness and are very small in size. But if you harvest the mushrooms just before the veil of the cap breaks, that is when they are most potent.
