Hermies/Bananas Question

So i have a plant that is in week 7-8 of flower, basically ready. Pulled a bannana off her last night and noticed that the calyx's are swelling like she may be starting to make some seeds. No big deal the bud will be insane even with a few tiny seeds. My question is what caused this. I have grown hundreds of plants in my day and never had one throw bananas. My tent's temps are between 65-75 during the dark and 75-80 when the lights are on. No light leaks. Is this just a fluke that happens sometimes? The lady was never stressed that i am aware of. Is this just one of the issues with fem seeds? I have always grown from clones and only from seed a couple times.

If you've never encountered this before than I would definitely say genetics. Sometimes you just get one.

depends how they were fem`d man

normally they`ll hermi a female and use that pollen on a female to make seed

you end up with plants that will almost always show female sex, but you induce a risk that they can hemi but it should be quite a small risk as they normally use colloidal silver to hermi the plant

not a stress a plant will ever encounter normally

but due to this I see lots of "fem`d" seeds put out a few male flowers

see you have no way of knowing how stable the plant was or how stable it is now

Most strains can grow both sex`s even deep into flower

So most of them can hermi on you

but clones from a tested stable mother will be more stable then seeds of course

it`s still handy for getting females fast as with reg`s you can end up with anything from 0 to 100% males

What strain is it ?

Ive been curious on the same thing as well.

I have 4 random bag seeds, and all 4 sexed girls. 1 of them might be going hermie. I keep finding swollen calyxe ( only 1 ) every so often , so i cut them. I cant tell if its just a swollen up female part or male. 1 of them had hairs coming out so left it but i wasnt sure what the others would do. Then i saw another small one yesterday that almost lookd like a nanner so i cut that out as well incase.

Ive heard that a stress/risk issue can cause some plants to go hermie but no proof. I did have a calmag lockout issue when i got into flowering, but my other 3 are perfectly fine. Just sad the 1 that i topped is getting this issue. I just keep an eye on it.

What im curious is... like when i go buy some stuff from a friend sometimes, ill find like 1-4 seeds in a oz of high grade stuff. Im always curious as too why the high grade will have a few seeds in there. does that mean its hermie? didnt mature that part enough to form into buds?

a lot of plants will react to the stress of being kept sensi ( very stressful girls want to bepollinated and make babies thats why they put out sticky pistils and swell up later in budding) by throwing nanners think of it as a last ditch attempt to produce seeds before winter by producing a bunch of hermi pollen in the absence of a male the plant ensures its genes are passed onto the next generation and dont die out since cannabis is an annual and dies back every year

So if we remove those nanners quick enough it shouldnt affect final product? Im scoping these things hard twice a day now to make sure.

In my experience nanners can sometimes decrease the yield. Depends on how close to harvest it threw them. Most of the time though if you're getting nanners at the end of flower, it's just time to harvest. Those girls are doing their best to propagate their lineage.

And the decrease in yield is hardly noticeable, and mostly just on the areas that threw nanners.

yeah this one is still packing on weight for sure, visually. its probably doubled in size in the past week. just started week 7 so ill keep an eye on it. No signs of new nanners yesterday which is good!

Should be good I just pick them off that late in flower and say screw it. Now I had one just start herming on me week 1 so yeah this one I pulled

They often show up in my garden in the weeks I grow past a breeders due date seeking better buds, mostly sterile.

I second this. I had a northern lights plant that I let go about 7 days past the harvest date and that bitch threw nanners like a fucking monkey.
