I received this email from my Senator today, and she quotes some DEA bullshit lies about Hemp. Now this is Industrial Hemp we're talking about. It's Cannabis Sativa but it has only trace psychoactive cannabinoids and less than 1 percent THC.

Here's the email, I will highlight the part I'm asking about.

Now I believe I will have to respond with exactly what I think of the bitch telling me this idiotic shit, but I wanted to ask you guys first. Is this even feasible? Would you be able to extract enough THC to be worthwhile?

Technically, yes if a hemp plant has 1% THC content, and you had 100 lbs, you could get 1 pound purity for high quality BHO/hash oil. It would require a lot of solvent and would take some time however.

It is technically true that you can extract a pound of oil at 1% from 100 pounds of material, but it will be mixed with a bunch of other stuff that isn't psychoactive. Not unlike oil extracted from fan leaves and stems, which doesn't have a particularly good flavor and gives you a charley horse between the ears, instead of euphoria, because of the high CBN and CBD content.

If you extracted it and offered it on today's market, it most definitely wouldn't sell, because it lacks appeal due to bad taste and unpleasant effects.

If you refine it to remove the THC, not only would it not be cost effective on todays market, but the euphoric effects of pure THC are not that attractive for most people either. It takes the entourage effect of the other cannabinoids and terpenes.

What you have here, is arrogant pontification from a position of ignorance, or a secondary agenda that they don't want to discuss. The 1% THC concern may be a red herring.

I don't think that the 1 percent THC is by weight. It's 1 percent of the cannabinoids in the resin. I don't think Hemp plants produce much resin, but I'm not really sure. Whatever amount of resin is produced, less than 1 percent is THC. So it would take a huge amount of Hemp bud, and a long and involved process to extract it.

Why is THC Schedule 1? I think our government is full of shit and should be removed immediately.
