Just moved plants indoors due to weather and fall coming. Got them under flourescents and CFLs. Tried to set up the wattage according to what I read in an online guide at 150 watts per plant. The problem is, is that equivalent wattage or do my CFLs have to total the 150 in CFL wattage (23+23+23 and so on)? By equivalent wattage I'm covered. If it's CFL wattage that needs to total 150, I'm going to need a bigger boat.

Watts per plant isn't very important. Watts per unit area is what you want. How much area is the plant taking up? I aim for 35 to 40 watts per square feet. Can you post some pictures?

Damn! I was hoping the equivalent watts would do the job. It's getting hard to find CFLs higher than 23 warts (equivalent to 100 incandescent watts). I was looking at my local Lowes and they have jack over 23 watts. Everything is LEDs. I can't afford to AC the grow space yet and LEDs are hot. I tried to take some cell phone photos since my digicam went on the fritz but even I couldn't tell what was in the pictures. I guess I'll have to call around and find out who's got some CFLs with decent wattage. I have about 15 sq. feet per plant so according to ChemPro I need about 600 watts a plant, which I have in equivalent wattage.

Edit: pumps breaks....15 sq. Feet per plant?

a new verb i just made up. "the act of adding COB type LEDs" CXA3070.jpg

like this fancy one.

its a flat chip a hundred or so tiny LEDs organized to operate @ an efficient power consumption compared to CFLs, MH, or really anything but the sun.

Are the COBs as cost effective as CFLs? I'm on a pretty tight budget for this first grow. One of the reasons I was avoiding LEDs or MH besides the heat factor.
