ya you would think. I had one that stayed on never figured out why it did it. One bad light cycle at 5 weeks shouldn't hurt anything I don't think.

Get the timer problem fixed, and finish 'em out. There really aren't any other options, unless you feel like chopping them down for the hell of it.

If it were me, I would turn them off until the next light cycle. In my mind, logic says that would reduce the tendency of the plant to want to start switching back to veg. 36 hours of light is an awful long time, and I think 26 hours of light with 22 hours of dark, would be less stressful to the plant. Sounds logical to me.

Nah, that's a little much, I wouldn't risk it. It's tempting to think that you would be reversing the damage done from the lights being on so long, but I think 48 hours would be too drastic and would just further confuse the plant, stressing it even more. Go with the 22(whatever the count is now.lol) hours, that sounds like a good happy medium. :)

No problem. :) Did they got out at their normal shut off time, or did you turn them off? If they did, I wouldn't change anything. I was saying that since they've been on so long, that you should turn them off til the next light period, whether it's 12 hours or 23 hours away, then keep them on their normal schedule. I'm pretty sure that's what you did, but I'm just making sure we got 'er straightened out.
