Help with the light

Fast question... I have a 30" x 60" Flowering area and am trying to decide on either a 400 or 600 HPS. I know that most of you will say "go fo the 600" but the area actually has a 24" x 48" tray in it and I am wondering if the 400 will suffice. I am really interested in the right reflector for a more rectangular area and any opinions on either would be greatly appreciated. I will be medical in a few more days so no issues with legal anymore but don't want more that 6 at a time to stay in compliance. I have another area the same size for clone/mom's.

BTW, this is my first post and grow and this site has helped me tremendously. Thanks to everyone for this site!

you are going to be succesful with either lamp. but i'm sure everyone will say to upsize it. 400w is fine IMO because if you keep the plants about the same size you shouldn't be more then 2 feet from all the tops. and thats 10,500 lumens-just as good as the sun.

good luck.

id say 400 too. you could use one of them car sun shields /white. but dont you get a reflecter when you buy, your lite and ballast, a reflector normally come with 400hps. as a set.
by the way welcome to the site.and good luck with your grow.
when you start your grow. start a grow journal, it really helps, you to keep a record of your grow. and others can help you through your grow, if anything goes wrong.

Thanks to both of you for the info... I actually got a killer deal on a 600 digital ballast and went that route. Might decide to pick up an MH bulb in a few weeks since I can run either in that setup but already grabbed the Hortilux Blue HPS right now. To get started I have some 4' T8's ( 4 bulbs total) and the green is just coming out of the Rapid Rooters so I am really getting excited. AK47 X C99 and NL X C99 with Foxfarm soil and nutes so I figure I am off to a good start. Will see what happens... Already started the journal as I figure that is the best way to learn from my mistakes but I havent put anything online yet... Thanks again for the feedback.
