help with strain selectio

Hey guys just wanted to get some decent info and hopefully whoever enters this thread knows its not just an other forum asking for you to pick my seeds out.

Myself i am trying to figure out as much as I can with limited knowledge and experience.

I want to start a breeding project.
For experience and mainly free seeds.

I have been looking for seeds for a good ammount of time 3-4 years now ive kept my eyes open for specific strains i have smoked and loved.

To be honest im actually having trouble finding specific strains that I like whether its from seed or clone.

I am looking for:
SnowCap
Strawberry Cough
Grape Mist
King Louie xiii
Alaskan Thunderfuck
Green Crack
Legendary Og
Gods Gift
Skywalker Og
Master Og
Sour Diesel

I think my main problem is not knowing what strains to pick online, and with limited knowledge I would much rather grow something that i have smoked...

Also because im breeding i would rather pick someone with a rep of saving the strains lineage so i can know what its roots are.

Still not sure why some people prefer some places and others say thats the one to stay away from...

Any help would be great...

Unless you have been growing for 3 to 5 years I would give up on the breeding for now. I had the same idea when I started. Unless you have a large - very large - growing are that can be partitioned off into several male chambers, it will be much more of a headache than you can imagine. That pollen gets everywhere and will ruin your crops.

Real simple solution for that. Watch your male closely, when it's about to blow it's balls just pluck balls individually and roll them between your fingers until the pod opens while in direct contact with a pistil. A bit more time consuming to pollinate the whole plant, but you don't end up with pollen all over the place.

yeah i know how messy things can get...

have a couple of grows under my belt but my main project was ruined a while back and i havent started again until just recently but I have been growing off and on for a while..

i might just make an inbred batch of these triple platinum seeds i got then try to cross it with some lemon thai from HSO.

or the headband from cali c.

You need to research the companies you are buying from just as much as the seeds. This game is filled with bad actors or just folks that will go against your own personal beliefs. So just look out for things like that. Like CC, if you have problems with their gear you might as well jump off a bridge, the fish at the bottom will be more receptive to your plight then swerve will.

That's my 2 cents.

Im stuck between picking a bunch of these strains online that I don't know too much about and hoping that I dont get the shit end of the deal IF the plants are grown properly.

I just don't know....

Maybe Ill find a new favorite strain by picking wisely.

Is this hearsay or something that actually has truth to it? (Not that I don't belive you, as you are certainly a trustworthy member in my opinion). I agree about not financially supporting people/companies that are against ones own ideals.

To the OP: are you new at growing? Eta, most of the strains are one of a kind, and will be a pain to try to breed with or preserve.

Im sorta new to growing...
been growing since i was in highschool.

used a 6x2x5 to clone and veg and a 8x4x6 to flower. but i was arrested and everything was thrown away because i wasnt present and my dad doesnt have his liscense and didnt start growing until a few months ago.

Been a couple of years since ive had my medical marijuana rec and its agitating dealing with high prices and mediocre bud...


im planning on moving out soon with a friend, and me and him and going to probably become caregivers... thats why im trying to take on this project.

also im planning on going to horticulture classes to get some more experience within this field...

It's what I read, certainly could be considered hearsay. If you dig deep enough the allegations against him get quite serious, and it seems like the folks digging have done their research, but you just never know on the internet.

The threads are out there(IC,GHS, they were here don't know if they still are) I guess it's up to folks to decide for themselves what to believe. I just think it's good to look into people. I know I've gotten into a couple seed purchases I wish I hadn't.

Thanks mate. I've seen them and while the offerings seem decent, I haven't seen a grow where I just had to grab some ya know?

To OP: not a bad idea. I picked up a book that really covered all the basis but I had previous garden experience to grow off of so to speak.

Me, too, but it wasn't because of ownership of a se-ed company. It was for buying into strain hype by breeders and fanboys. Live and learn.

I think it's a right of passage. Pick a company or a bean over hype, grow it, notice everyone else has a similar opinion and find something better. It sucks, but like ya said part of the learning process. I did this with kush strains

yeah i picked up a couple of books and they were all crap. I got more info googling...

and it helps alot to observe others marijuana plant problems.

Out of that list OP if Snowcap is from DNA I personally wouldn't have hesitation about trying it as I have had good experience with their gear.

I have had limited experience with HSO But I would definitely grow some more of their gear from my experience with the single seed I have grown. I am pretty sure anything you want from them has a grow journal on here. Lots of folks growing their stuff, I know quite a few enjoy their bluedream. I think I may order some myself with their new Master Kush if I get the seed buying itch in the next couple weeks, think it drops on August 1st.

When addicted to buying seeds bad purchases are bound to happen

I get almost all my info from guys on here and googling and reading general gardening type stuff. Organics makes it easier too I don't have to worry about much anymore.

think ive heard bad things about apothecary seeds too...

i might go with rare dankess seeds if i can find a good strain.

think there is even a rare dankess forum somewhere with some lady who works there answering questions and helping new growers
