Help with stealth cabinet ideas!

Greetings!
I'm looking to build another cabinet, but I need some ideas to make this one more stealth than my last.
Problems with my last cabinet:
1) I built it six feet high, so it stuck out.
2) I didn't know how to ventilate it correctly, which forced me to leave the door open half the time.
3) Odor control was non-existent. I really can't afford to be this lazy with my next apartment grow.
4) The lock I put on it was visible and could cause people to question why the hell I have a lock on a self made cabinet.

Well, other than these problems I'll let you know how I grow......I want to flower about six plants. I am attempting to buy t5 bulbs for veg later this year. I have used a 400w HPS for the past 5 years, so it's definitely time for a new one. I am looking at a cabinet under four foot tall that looks like a night stand. I grow in organic soil. I top and train my plants, so that's about as crazy as I get.
I also wanted insight on what Sativas do well in a stealth cabinet situation?
Any examples or help would be greatly appreciated.
Peace

Here are some Nirvana White Widow from outdoor last fall. It was revegged and I'm still smoking on it.

Sorry my post might be a little to vague for some, but here are some questions:
1) what is the smallest/most quiet fan for ventilation that will get the job done?
2) Any recommended brands for 400w HPS or HPS/MH(quiet).
3) Sativa strains that train well. Or any strains off the top of your head.
Thanks

I guess I could just re-model my old set up. What is the best choice for a 400w HPS? I've used a $100 Inisde Sun 400w HPS for the past 5 years. How quiet is a digital balast compared to a magnetic? Also what size fan would ventilate efficiently and is quiet?
Thanks

I think I've decided on a 400w Lumatek digital ballast. So, the next step is ventilation/ odor control. What fan set-ups will work best(quiet/no light leak)?

I use an soler & palau inline fan. its pretty quiet and use could easily drown out the liitle sound it makes with a box fan or pc tower. The problem that you are gonna run into is space inside your cab if you plan on installing a carbon filter inside your cab. You also should look into making or buying a cool tube as temp will definitely become an issue in a smaller cab. My cab ran hot until I finally broke down and built one.

My cab is 5 ft tall, but I painted it and put a lock on it. It hides light well, but I don't have any means of odor control and that has been my achilles for the past 6 years. I should have enough room to put in a fan and carbon filter. I just need to keep it quiet and smelling like roses. How much will the soler fan cost and how much air does it push?

cptcrunk: I use a mix usually 2/3 peatmoss and 1/3 regular potting soil(hyponex I think). I add more perlite to the mix. I also add bone meal and quano. I feed alaskan fish fert and I'm now a firm believer in molasses, so I feed with that every other watering.

Thanks for the help guys

Here is the link to S&P fans. http://www.hvacquick.com/spfnconfig.php?fm=td.

This was one of the cheaper places. I use the 100x model hooked up to a carbon filter which suits my needs just fine, but I have a cooltube and my cab is only 36w x 36h x 18d. My temps usually run between 80 - 83f. Stealth was a major concern for me and after much research I found a few threads all praising S&P fans and have been very satisfied with mine. Panasonic makes some nice ones in their whisper series that I believe are quieter but cost a bit more and are quite large if you require the ones that move a lot of air.

Also if you decide to go the cool tube route look into Thermaltake Silent Cat fans. They move about 60 cfm if wired properly and are very very quiet. Also fairly inexpensive.

Panasonic looks pretty expensive. What would you compare the sound of the soler and palau to(other than a fan)?

Smoote: That's a pretty clever set up you have.

I'll try to dig up some pictures of my cab, but probably not until this weekend. I appreciate all of the input guys.

I's say somewhere between a pc tower and a bathroom vent (not panasonic ofcourse) . the sound is basically air rushing out mostly but i'm pretty sure I could quiet that down a bit with some foam baffle thingies.

Speaking of foam baffles! Nice setup smoote. I'll have to spread that on to a buddy. Sorry Genius dont mean to get off subject.
Thanks... hmmm i can't say you name with out feeling like i'm kneeling and bowing to you. Ha was that your intention? kiss-ass

Yea take a look at pc fan mufflers to get ideas. I can take detailed pictures of mine and made give you a drawing or two if you're interested.

I really can't speak highly enough about them. They're super simple to make and I'd say the drop in decibels from my exhaust was somewhere around 30%, but thats not what really did it for me, the muffler actually took the sound of the whooshing air and moved it from the closet and made it sound as if it were in the ceiling or somewhere else. Kind of like a ventriloquist throwing his voice. Hope that makes sense to you.

As far as fans go. Ive seen a page on the s&p fans... and the lowest 3 models are suposed to be like 25-35 Db noise level for around 100-200 cfm as for the vortex there more like 50 Db for 200 cfm.... but i'd like to hear more form people with personal experience with the S&p fans.

As for odor control there are 100's of diy carbon filters... there really simple its just blowing air through some carbon.

I also have my fan pulling my air through my carbon filter due to the fact I have it all inside of my cab. I'm pretty sure if I had it pushing through it would be very quiet. I'll say it again I love my S&P 100x. I have a box fan inside of the bedroom my cab is in and its not very loud and completely drowns out my cab noise.
