Help with Soil and Lights!!

hello stonies. i am a super dorky grower who is growing one plant. i have all the soil ready which includes perlite*, potting mix from miracle gro, potting soil and thats it. are these soil mixtures enough. i am also stumped on the light fixture. since i am only growing one plant (for now) I have a light that i think but am not sure will grow the plant from sprout to flowering without having to change to a bagillion dollar light. the temperature reaches the upper 80s so i feel it should be right. am i ready to start growing or does something sound queeer.bongsmilie that guy pretty much represents what i want to do right now

The only inexpensive light that will actually grow a plant are CFL's. also that soil mix sound good just remember not to give it very many if any nutrients because there are lots in that miracle grow.

not sure what your potting soil is, but definitely cut the miracle grow with perlite
pure miracle grow is pretty 'hot', plenty of fertilizer in the form of tiny time release pellets
with time release, do not over water, you'll release too much fertilizer and burn the plant
could you tell us what you have for a light currently

yeah but the thing is i see people all over the web who have plants without using those kinds of lights. what would be the price for me to get one to grow this plant to superstardomm?

well the specific name for the light i dont know but its just really hot. it was used for a reptile once before. i also have four 40 watt flourescent lights. .?

IF you are using the light you used as a heat lamp for your reptile, u might as well just stop growing right now, the fluros can be worked with, are the they long pole like lights, if so do u have a fixture for them, u would be fine to use that as light for now but its better to use that for clones as the lights isnt very strong and doesnt penetrate as deep. AS far as a kick ass lighting system it really depends on how much you want to spend, i havea 150w hps that i bought for 160$ from a hydro store. I know they can be purchased alot cheaper on the internet. As far as that 150w it covers a 2x2 area about, its a smaw closet grow but it gets the flowering job done, i also use cfl's to vegg so i can have a constant cycle of pot. IF you have more money adn space isnt an issue then go ahead and get a 250w,400w,600w, or even 1000w. Just keep in mind that the more wattage the more heat there will be so if space is you consern then go for a 150w or 250w or even just CFL lights which wont cost you very much and get the job done to a satisfactory level.
