Back to thread ...
My 6 regular seed females all hermed out....swerve never responds , piece of shit , blames it on stress and light leaks......well asswhole , clibes I gave a friend all hermed too, so what up with that you crook .....
High Times talks these guys up and people buy into it .........joke
Never again ......I see lots of his shit going hermie now
Cali Connection hermie seed bank is open for business
The High Time Cannabis Cup is a publicity stunt... The venue's goal is to help the breeders to promote to the masses. (nothing wrong with that IMO)
This does not mean the competitors have the best herb by any means.
Tons of the best breeders would not even enter the cup because they know its rigged and their gear speaks entirely for itself in the patient world.
You have to ask, why there are only mainstream breeders from the tude involved in the cup? Advertising...

I got a Cali connection sour og going right now from reg seed. I just took clones and will throw em into flower to see what's up. If you are getting hermies then just chill out and recheck for light leaks and stress. While some strains are prone to hermie, stressing the plant out helps express this trait. This is another great reason to never only run one strain or breeder when you are testing your stock.

Hermies can happen for a variety of reasons I have learned..

First off, genetics: Equatorial sativas are the first thing to pop in mind when it comes to this, they are known to herm, certain plants just put off nanners the longer they run to try and preserve their genetics on their own.

Feminized seeds : To get a female plant to produce mainly female or all female seeds is done by creating stress within the mother plant to put off the "seeding" hormones (not being scientific here)... So the fem seeds that are from it are genetic predisposed to seed through stress as well.

Creating your own stress: Unintentionally you are stressing your plants out, they feel their life and lineage is in danger and they throw nanners as a survival tactic.

A couple of types of unintentional stress that can cause hermies to occur:
Light Leaks
interruption of dark cycle
low light levels
Poor Co2 Levels
High N
nutrient lock out
ph fluctuation

I know there is more, but these are some of the ones I have seen or heard of before

I honestly think Cali Connection just hit a bump and put out some shitty feminized seeds in 2012. If you happen to already have purchased some Cali Connection chances are you might get a batch of hermies so if you still plan on popping those beans I would go and get some Dutch Master reverse ASAP.

btw... Sour D is usually pretty sensitive to light situations regardless of breeder , just a little heads up

I can attest to that for sure. I have had a few sour ds herm on me. One grow I used dm reverse because I had no other plants ready and it worked perfect. I used once at the first sign of male flowers and then once more like a week or two later. It was a hermie in the early stages of flower rather than a few nanners later in flower which what some feminized hermies tend to do. The bud came out fine with no seeds. Needless to say I did not keep the strain.

Who is using femenised seeds??? Mine were regular seeds ,
And as far,as strss ...I not a Fucking newbie , neither is my friend I gifted them shit Tahoe cloned. Fact with cali con is his stock is unstable from the start ......
I love it when breeders and his minions point the finger at the grower ....if your shit is that unstable you know it if you are breeding shit.....hence why no response to dozens of complaints .

Ok so i'm not a Cali Connect fanboy I can asure you but I have grown their feminsed strains sucessfully without any hermies and it was some of the best weed i have grown and smoked.

Given that the OP only realised his grow was compromised with male sperm when he found actual seeds in his buds and has admitted that he has no idea how to identify a nana, isnt it completely possible that his plants were tainted with some random neighbourhood pollen from another grow?

Not trying to defend Cali Connect by any means but just hate to see growers bad mouthing breeders with what amounts to libel in the real world when there are so many variables at play that you can fuck up as an inexperienced grower that come down to YOUR lack of experience and NOT providing your plants with the environment they NEED to grow.

Each and every strain will have its own optimum environment for growing to maximum potential and a big part. Of the growing journey is to work out what that idea environment is.

In other words, just because your shit throws out seeds, does not mean the breeder fucked up with their breeding.
This instant passing of blame after you googled "cali connection hermies" because you fucked up your grow seems to be a very Gen-Y dominant trait that I wish we could backcross & breed out of the fuckers.

I feel like im taking crazy pills here.

Peace.

I think people are just saying this because there is a long documented history of ppl complaining about a few of their IBL crosses that were herming up...

I know that cali connect has not only some great crosses but stuff that is used in breeding so it's gotta be good.

Fact is he sent out all new seeds to sellers first of year, last few months , large amounts of people bitching about herms in regular and fem. Seeds
Multiple strains , black water, Tahoe, sour og , etc
Sounds like the " breeder stock " is tainted ....
I have deadheads two weeks to harvest, no herms, but I ain't run any of his shit again .....
To many strains r herming out n people are bitching ....
My gifted clones of reg Tahoe hermed on me n friend .......our 30 years combine experience isn't the problem, considering these deadheads are ok......
Being not a fan you sure do put up one Hell of a defense for him.....issue is he to busy doing his shit to fix the problem swerve created ....I've talked to several others he never contacted about his hermie factory .......its about a company standing behind their SHIT, n not hiding when time comes .....
Lmao ...lack of experience......sounds like swerve...only excuse he has ......his lack

Reverse works well if used early unfortunately ur screwed hopefully just seed on the outer calyxes and not totally seeded all the way threw still gonna smoke kill I'm sure.like DBS said let few beans ripen on each plant maybe get a killer pheno off 1 or maybe just bunch of herms but never know .

Not even worth trying to look through them for a killer pheno IMO. They'll just be more herms. I made the mistake one time of growing 4 plants from a few seeds I got from very mild hermy in the previous bagseed grow, instead of just getting more reg seed from my huge bagseed collection, thinking they'd be all fems and I wouldn't have to cull males since I was in micro limited space and all plants were in 1 tub where killing males and pulling up their root system disturbed the others.... Well all 4 were massive herms from the beginning of flower and produced buckets of seeds. Worst mistake I've made growing so far.

I think there's a right way to make fems that's more difficult and time consuming and requires a lot of stress testing to find out which phenos DO NOT herm under stress and then only using those phenos to make hermie flowers using colloidal silver. Then there's more hack ways of doing it such as just using any female that hermies, like I did, that will likely give you the most and worst herms, or using colloidal silver on any fem you thinks a dank keeper pheno without stress testing it, and that's a shot in the dark. The ability of the he/she father plant to resist herm is probably the most important phenotypic trait to look for, even more than how dank it is. Swerve may have just used 2 phenos he thought were the most dank without stress testing them, or didn't do enough stress testing, or he may not have even used 2 phenos and they may just be S1s... But putting a bunch of females through signifigant stress just to find out which ones herm the least or don't herm, would take up a lot of space and time and yield mostly garbage so I can see how tempting it would be to want to skip that or only do it on a lmited scale.

Yeah Tiresias mist (sp). The guy who makes it says it is not colloidal silver. I have heard a lot of talk but nothing about it actually working from someone who has used it themselves. Its pretty pricey as well. Instead you can make your own colloidal silver which is stronger than the stuff you can find in the health food store. There is a thread on here about it

good deal. I must have read it wrong I was thinking it was a reverse, but that's cool too

Don't pick out the seeds now it will not help, you're better off to let them finish and at least have some viable seeds, you pick them now and you got no seeds and little to no bud.

regards,

the only thing reverse can do at this point is sterilize any nanners you havent picked off, and any leftover pollen that hasnt already done the deed. This might have been said already, but cloning any S1 of FEMINIZED plants usually stresses them into producing male genitals, at least in my exp.

another good reference i'm too lazy to put up a link to, is Dutch Passion's Feminizer Recipe, if you don't believe me. Selfed seeds are highly prone to self pollination, and I find keeping the selfed grows as low stress as possible helps keep the seeding to a minimum. No topping, no cloning, no big changes in environment light humidity, 18/6 in veg to 12/12 in flower only, daylight/MH in veg, sodium in flower. Low temps, high humidity, more canopy height. High N, Low K in veg and early flower. And of course picking off the male instigators before they spray. I like to use tweezers, have a couple different kinds for surgical neutering.
