Help with Root Riot Plugs. (need germination help)

hey everyone so I've been experimenting with root riot plugs, and so far i haven't had much luck. my house maintains a consistent 76 degrees (i live in Hawaii of it matters) i place the root riot plugs on the counter top in a series of shot glasses i put the seeds 2-3 in each (i soak my seeds in water for 24hr first) then apply in the plug then rip off a corner to cover the hole. and let them sit.

am i doing something wrong seems as i'm the only person having issues germinating in these things any help will be greatly appreciated.

-Hawaiian- Hydro ( if you would like some pictures let me know i can attach )

I'm having the same problem. Can't get these seeds from Herbies to pop. I think they ripped me off like they ripped of my friend. I also live in Hawaii. I'm switching over to Hydro as we speak. Just need something to put in them. I'd love to see your pics if you're still around.

i use rapid rooter plugs and i jsut wet them drop seeds or cuttings in and put a dome over it and i havent had any problems. i then use them in soil or net cups with hydroton

i use 1 23 watt CFL like 6-7 inches above them cause its over the dome. i just drop them in eveyr now and then the root shoots up and il just get some tweezers and flip it back over(this is for seeds of course). that 1 CFL is enough lighting to root ever how many i can fit in my little tray.

some people say leave them in the dark 24 hours after taking a cutting then give em light but i just cut dip in clone gel and then wipe it off(too much will smother it) then place into the plug. seeds i just leave the light on for heat and so when they sprout they have light.

i just mist the clones every day making sure everything stays moist and give em some fresh air. if you where going to do just soil the easiest thing i have found to do is fix a party cup up and put it in it and find a clear cup and cut the top off and put it in the cup so it has its own humidity dome. when i do this the media stays wet enough to root without having to mist or anything. i can let it go almost 2 weeks without touching them and usually get roots no problem.

New to the wonderful Islands and holy crap...I am trying rapid rooters, covered tray, 2 tube flourescent..etc.

I think I am having a HUGE issue with humidity. I will be going Hydro with a coco/perlite mix in Smart Pots. I put in 5 of my bring overs from Oregon which cracked in less than a night in water. Immediately they went into the rapid rooters and covered them. I cant figure out if I should leave the cover off or not as the plug are staying wet and I haven't added ANY water since the little bit I put in the first day.

I am also seeing that covering paper towels on a plate with a baggie is a waste as well.

Any 808 pointers greatly appreciated as usual.

I tossed all my plugs and cubes to clone with, basic lazy guy,so now all I do is fill the 32 site ezcloner and put it to the side of my 400watt MH.Fill with water and just wait for the clones to root.
Than for hydro I use a 6x6 RW cube...to get the roots into the cube I cut a slice deep into the center of the cube.
Than into the tray

Seeds...I soak in water...than place in wet paper towel until root shows, than into a dixie cup filled with soiless mix.
water in the seed, cover with sanwitch bag under fl light 3" up.
you can clean the dirt off the seedling and replant to hydroton or RW

I've got a tray of rapid rooter but haven't tried them yet. I just use a Tupperware container with wet paper towels and place on top of water heater for a day or two. Within 36 hrs I have a seedling that then goes into net pots and sprayers. I never cover a seedling with domes unless cloning with rock wool.

Ive used them forever. The trick is to place the seed about 1/8-1/4" below the surface and DO NOT COVER THEM UP!(don't put a chunk of rooter on top of the seed) Keep them sitting in enough water to keep them moist and the rest will work itself out.

My first grow i killed a few seeds at first using "rapid rooters"(probably the same thing as the root riot plugs), my problem was that i drowned the seeds because i was too worried and didn't know what i was doing. So don't do my mistake and soak them puppies, how I do now is soak em in ph'd water and then squeeze, squeeze, squeeze the soaking water out(leaving the plug still moist obv you cant squeeze it all out), take tweezers and dig a lil hole in the part that technically isn't where the seed goes(so upside down?) stick the seed in there and cover back up(that also allows a easy popup for the seed because you don't tightly pack the "dug up" pieces back in there). I then set it on about an inch of hydroton in the netpot(final placing where it's going to grow) thats in my dwc system, cover hydroton around its sides, put light on above it and let it go. The bubbling from underneath keeps the plug moist enough for the roots to grow down to the water and there ya go. Have had a 3 of 3 100% success so far

Totally appreciate all the input. The plugs for me are going back burner for now. I have left the kids going without a dome. Pretty sure the remaing ones are gone however..

Side note....i can give kudos to the single seed center. Under a week, order to arrival. UK to the islands...at xmas time.... Next ones to go intmp_6884-20151208_23291156371870.jpg a
