Help with lighting!

Hi people,
I'm a newb and I'm going to try and grow one to three Northern lights #5 plants organically with an ebb and flow system in a large computer tower and I've purchased two LED red and blue spectrum lights from these guys:

www.LEDwholesalers.com - High Power PAR38 42 SMT MIX COLOR LED Vegging Grow Light

It appears the spectrum is within the growing standards of the plant and the space should not be too much of a problem since I've enhanced the case's height and it's now about 30 inches tall, 7 inches wide and 24 inches long, which should be enough to grow this plant. The interior will have a reflective mylar coating, (xmas paper), Here's my question:

Is one of these lights enough to grow a plant or do I need both or something else altogether. Please be specific and any help is MUCH appreciated. Thanks!

Newb

Will it fit inside the tower? It says compact but it looks pretty big in the graphic :) Just don't want to order it and be like..."Ok that's great...where do I put this thing" :) It also seems like 150W is a little much for such a small space. I'm just curious, so sorry for the disrespect if it comes across that way...

probably won;t work for you. cheap led's just don;t have the lumens (light) to grow weed. there are experimental led;s available but they are extremely expensive. you're better off with cfl's in your space.

Won't work as in won't work at all, or just smaller yields? I'm a little worried about the heat/power issue since I'm not at home much and live in a suite so I have to be careful about power etc. and would take a smaller yield over too much power making it detectable. What do you think?

didnt realize you were using a small case .. sorry.... you should add at least 2 cfls in there.. get 27 watters

my guess would be won;t work at all. try searching threads for leds as a TAG in the search function. you should find lots of discussion on the subject.

you'll be fine with heat and electricity if you use cfl's - about 75 actual watts should do the trick.

Both of you mentioned CFL's. Is there any specific/special type of CFL I need? Should I do 1 75 watt CFL or a couple 27 watters? Should I continue to use the LED lights at all or just send them back? Should I make a heat shield? Thanks for the help btw :)

So a final question. I've contacted the people that sold me the LED bulbs and it seems they are not returnable, (which sucks and I guess I'll have to eat the 140$ for 2 cost), so are they useful at all? Like maybe as a supplement to the CFL to increase flowering output etc? Again, thanks for the help.

how many watts were they again? or do you have a link? thats total bullshit about returning them...if i were you id refuse the package and if they still dont give you your cash, reverse the charge from the cc company. anyways, led's can be used rather effectively for the veg stage...but dont even think about it for flowering...

yea, any blue/red led system will help during veg, so you can definitely utilize them for at least part of your grow. as a very loose rule of thumb with LED's, multiply the actual watts used by the system (in your case 11) by 5, which will give you a ballpark idea of how much its worth in terms of HPS. so one of those light bulbs is = to a 55 watt hps bulb, more or less.

I just have one question, why if I want the extra lumins during the veg cycle, wouldn't I want the extra light during the flower cycle because I've heard that more light equals bigger buds? Otherwise the help is appreciated, so thanks man! Have a good day!

sure you could use it, as a supplement only. i meant dont use it if thats all you are expecting to use for flowering.

So I have a couple last questions: I've purchased the bulbs, two 2700 K and two 6500K, (they didn't have the 5000K), 43 watt CFL's and I'm about to mount two of each in the case but do I need two bulbs at a time, or just one? I've decided to run two plants inside the case and hopefully at least one will be female. My second question is about the 6500 k. Do I need the 5000 or will 6500 be alright? Thanks for the help!
