Running straight perlite hempy buckets and things are going well. Just started flowering and the 2 gallon buckets dry up pretty quick. Not a problem when I'm home (although it is getting to be a lot of work bending over and watering by hand all the time) but the real problem is that I have to travel quite a bit coming up and don't have anyone to water.
In the past when I've been gone for a couple days I've let the humidity rise and drop the temps somewhat which slows down how fast they drink but they're getting to big to do that now and probably need to be water at least once every two days at a minimum.
I'm looking for other options now and thinking of making some kind of simple automatic feeding system. I'm looking for something not overly complicated that I can build relatively easily which will give me peace of mind when I'm away and allow me to mix up larger batches of nutes and save my back somewhat.
Maybe something like a regular 32 gallon trash can with a lid. Drill a hole in the lid for a hose and put a 256 gph Pump in it. Fill with nutrient solution and have black 1/2" tubing from the pump run up through the garbage can into the tent. I'd need some kind of connectors with smaller hoses to go to each bucket and probably then drill a small hole around the rim of the bucket to zip tie the hoses to. Then some kind of timer to kick on once a day for a certain time to fill the buckets until they overflow slightly. Not sure of the type of timer to use as I'd thought about something like THIS but I'd only want it to come on once a day and the longest "off" setting seems to be 60 minutes while the shortest "on" setting for a regular timer seems to be 1 hour on most which would obviously flood the place.
I'm sure other people have created something like this so as I'm inexperience with this type of thing (which is why I went hempy in the first place) I'm curious if someone can point me in the right direction or if there is a guide somewhere I can follow along. Thanks!!
