Hey wassup guys and gals,

I have a question on what type of lighting will yeild me more buds. I am thinking on purchasing a 400W MH/HPS light fixture and use the MH for vegetation stage and the HPS for the flowering stage. But as I went throught this forum, it seems like CFL's are actually good. I don't want to increase in watts. I need help please.

400 Watt MH/HPS or 400 Watts of CFL's?

I want a CFL point of view, please. thanks

If your going to be using a hps to flower all you really need is 4, 4 foot fluorescent tubes. Or just use 100-150watts of cfl lighting per plant for your vegg stage.just make sure you use daylight(6500k) or coolwhite tubes(4500k)
but if your going to buy a HPS hood with a MH conversion you might as well us the MH for veging. It actually might be cheaper to use the MH in your hps hood because metal halide bulbs are only about 40-50$ and you might spend about the same buying the whole cfl or fluorescent set-up just for veg. then you gotta replace the cfl bulbs for budding so that would be another $30-$60. over all its cheaper with the cfl set-up but you wont get as dense or as much buds in weight as you would with a hps in flower.
a plus for the fluorescent set-up is that you will save money on your electric bill.
and a plus for the metal halide & high pressure sodium is that your plants will grow bigger, faster, and stronger.
hope this helps...

It all depends on how much room you have to grow in and your budget. The main reason for me choosing the cfls is the price. You can add as you need to. If i had the room to grow about 6-8 plants i would definitely go MH and HPS but it don't have the room. I am very pleased with how my two plants are doing with the cfls.
