Help with choosing a wind screen

So I put some tomato outside and the wind took the tops and some branches off. There are many many types of fabric sold eg as shade cover, insect barriers, etc. What type of landscaping fabric is the best for making a wind break?

Will insect cloth slow enough air? Will shade covers rip in the wind? I have seen people use the orange construction fencing but it is so open it seems it can't block much wind.

The area gets regular gusts over 50kph and unfortunately the spot available to me is just over a wall so turbulence is killing my plants. Is enclosing the area in some sort of netting even feasable, or am I better off wrapping individual plants?

I have had ten foot sections of cyclone fence ripped down by the wind just because i put a barrier on it
The wind will pretty much rip down anything not made of wood or steel
And covered even steel

Thanks, that does suck. Guess I'll try wrapping the individual plants then, maybe around chicken wire cylinders.

Just saw this thread. Here's my 2 bits. 5 - 6 Gallon buckets with the bottoms cut out. Learned from my Italian Father in Law. Install directly to ground. Just wait till the seedlings hit the top and take em off! They'll be strong enough then.
