Whats up RIU Im a noobie and I think my plants are getting close but my trichs are all clear and Im trying to get an idea of when I should begin to flush. I dont want to flush too early and starve the plants of nutrients.

Can someone please help with some experienced advice.

The plants are bagseed and they have been on 12/12 light since 12/9/09 (40 days). I do have GH's FloraKleen.

My question is when should I begin to flush the plants and should I even use the FloraKleen.

ALL ADVICE IS WELCOME +REP FOR GOOD EXPERIECED ADVICE.

If you are in hydro you only need to flush 2 or three days(long enough for the plant to work through what nutrients it has already absorbed) as there is no nutrient residue around the root system when you switch it to H20+sugarwater flush (thats all most flush stuff is - usually organic fructose works the best (we used to use orange juice(in soil) to flush years ago).. So in Hydro wait to flush until you see fat bent over amber trichomes.

In soil you should begin to flush a bit sooner as the soil will hold on to some of the nutrients. I like to feed my organics just sugar water for around 9 days (3-4 waterings in a cool 77F room), after running 5 times the amount of water per soil.... This is the tricky part... I use one of those "hydro grow trays" to set my 15gallon pots in; pour about 60 gallons of plain water through it.... which I use a shopVac to suck all the water out of the tray and usually have to empty it 3 times per plant I flush.. The last 2 gallons of water that go through the soil are sugar water.. Then the plant wont need to be watered for 3 days or so, then feed some more sugar water.... And then start getting complements of how this is the best tasting herb your peeps have ever smoked and your grow buddies will always be trying to 'trade you a bud'.

Last note: know the strain you are growing, you should know about how long it takes to ripen (indies are usually 55-60daysish saties can go for around 70). Make sure to put little dates on each pot of when you started to flower.

Everybody has there own growing style, but in my hydro set up, I do two flushes. The first is at week 5, for just one day, to wash the plant out, and to prevent any nutrient lock up, and then my final flush, week 9 for the last 3 days. Then on my last day its in complete darkness. After my week 5 flush, my girls seem to kick it into over drive.
