Why do I have so much heat?? Isn't 4 fans enough? I have the A/C in the house set to 72F. The light is a 600watt MH conversion. I don't want to move it any farther up because the plants already seem to be stretching and they keep falling over.

id say a 600 is a bit much for those lil seedlings right now... downgrade to a CFL or sumthin till theyre a few sets of leaves in. itll also give you some time to figure out some exhaust and intake stuff, cuz that is one of the most crutial parts to a closet grow is regulating heat...especially with a 600.

I run a 8 Bulb CFL, T5 array and a 400 watt HPS all in my little closet. my temps typically do not go over 86. all my babies are extremely helathy and produce nice bud. What I've learned to keep heat down is this: I do run the AC and I keep it at 70. I do leave the closet door open and just lock my bedroom door. Its an apartment and nobody comes in unless i ask them to. I place a (large) high volume Fan at the doorway of my closet. It sucks cooled air in from my room and pushs it into the closet thereby displacing the hot air from the room. I also point this mammoth loud fan of mine at the ceiling where the heat goes naturally. So, I push the heat out and give my babies a gentle breeze from ambient airflow, not direct airflow. I'm not trying to raise them in a tornado so I point the fan at the ceiling instead of at them; this way, they get a breeze and I exuast teh heat effectively... The fan I bought comes from wall mart. Circular, metal cage, sits on the ground, kind of like a shop fan.

Your 600 watt is fine for that room later, now, just use the CFL's until the plants are strong enough to tolerate the 600 watt unit.
Once they are 6 or 8 inches tall you could throw that Beast on them but keep it nice and high in the air. Its normal to see the little plants struggle at first. all mine have looked timid at first, especially my clones. Eventually they get over this hump and take off... then, you wil be amazed!

Cut a hole in the ceiling for the heat to escape. Remember heat rises.
That will probably just create more heat in my situation. I live where it is very hot and all thats above that closet is insulation holding 140F of heat in the attic.

adding co2 to the room will let you grow at higher temps
How is this done?

u need a bathroom exhaust fan to take the warm air out ( u can get them very cheap 10$), the osicitating fans are just blowing the warm air around and it will all still build up..

Ok so I just found out the intake was definitely a weak link. I moved the fan I had there back a few feet and moved a second one over to the intake and turned them up. This dropped the temps to 84.5F. It's still early in the day and I suspect they'll get a few degrees hotter yet, but this is still a lot better.
