Your liberty may depend on it!!

Take action before the federal government brings medical marijuana programs to an end.
Share:
Even though the Obama Administration has promised to leave state-regulated medical marijuana programs alone, attorneys in the federal government are now threatening officials in six states, warning that they have the right to arrest and prosecute people legally licensed to grow marijuana. These threats already derailed a medical marijuana program in Washington State. We can't let the same thing happen in the dozen or so states where there's medical marijuana legislation pending – too many cancer and MS sufferers rely on marijuana to get relief from debilitating pain and nausea.

The Attorney General can put a stop to these threats – write Eric Holder today and ask that he keep the Administration's promise not to mess with state laws on medical marijuana!

Recipients
Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr.

Beginning in April, U.S. Attorneys in states where medical marijuana legislation is pending began to send letters to state officials, threatening to prosecute individuals who are licensed to grow or sell marijuana, even if such activities are permitted under state law. Given that there has been no change in federal marijuana law, I find these letters to be unnecessarily intimidating and a betrayal of the public's will and trust. Furthermore, in threatening to subject Washington State officials who license and regulate marijuana to prosecution, some of these letters have been misleading, in that it is by no means illegal under federal law to regulate and license medical marijuana.

In 2009, the Ogden memo formally instructed federal prosecutors to "not focus federal resources in your states on individuals whose actions are in clear and unambiguous compliance with existing state laws providing for the medical use of marijuana." The recent letters from U.S. Attorneys represent a direct contradiction of this instruction, and I stand with the Drug Policy Alliance in urging the Administration to keep its promise to the public.

Please direct U.S. Attorneys to cease sending these threatening letters and to honor state laws, the needs of medical marijuana patients and the will of the public and their elected representatives.

Farmer2424 you are right on the money! Too many important pockets are getting thinner. I too will send my letter. These kinds of things sadden me because I really thought America stood for something different...a little thing called liberty.
