Dry and chopped up gives more surface area for more thorough extraction. Keeping chilled helps in extraction also.

DO IT WITH DRY ICE!!! EASIEST WAY TO MAKE GREAT SAND HASH
All you need is:
Those filter bags for making bubble hash
A bucket
Dry Ice
Just put all your bud stems whatever has tric's on it, and throw it in the bucket, then throw the dry ice in the bucket, then put the filter bag on the bucket kind of like a condom, with the filter screen over the bucket orifice.
I usually like to use a large mirror I have on the floor or a table even better, but now just shake the bucket mercilessly over the mirror and see it get ever so dusty with sweet blonde sandy hashish.
From there you can press or whatever and use different stages of the filter bags to get the cream of the crop and whatnot. Eventually you'll notice thedust is more green and you could keep going just obiously will lessen and lessen. I recommend then throw it into butter, couldn't hurt.
