Careful with the watering...if your soil seems too wet, just watch it may recover. If soil seems ok, try a dome (clear plastic cup, tupperware, etc...) it may perk up. If soil is too dry give it a lil water and spritz the leaves. Try to learn how to use weight of the pot to help determine when to water, or you can pick up a mositure meter pretty cheep at walmart. Good luck

must agree, overwatering, way too much for seedlings, 2-4 oz a day? wow how big are the pots? should only give them water like every 2nd or 3rd day

and as soon as i checked it, saw it was drooped and the soil was dry at the very bottom i figured it was lack of water!! so i immediately wattered all of them. i dont see how it could be over watering when the soil is parched.

thats just the outside do you now how much water is on the inside???? the outside will dry out first but the inside will stay wet

there is a hole finger width in the bottom of the jiffy pot. i can stick my finger inside and feel that they are dry. last time i water them was last night 2oz each and checked late this afternoon they were dry and in that shape...when to add mh light?

Yeah, leaves curling down is an overwatering problem.
2-4 OZ a day? jesus dude that's more than I give to my full grown flowering plants...

water your seedlings every 3 days.... so twice a week until it gets bigger.
Once the plants bigger, only water once you notice it starting to wilt.... honestly, let the plant start to fall over a bit from lack of water.... and then water her up.... she will stand back up again in less than 20 minutes.... and you will never have an overwatering problem again.

The roots need oxygen just as much as they need water, and you are drowning your plants.... and going to cause a mess of problems (stress, root rot, to name a few)..

Think about it this way, you starve the plant of water..... the roots grow longer and faster in search of water.

Don't deprive your plant, just wait until it wilts a bit.

also, add the MH when they are about 2 weeks old... (2-3 sets of true fan leaves)

the whole stem is droop down from about halfway up...since i just watered them 5 min ago, is there anyway i can quickly dry them out? so these plants need barely any water at all huh..someone tell me WHEN TO ADD MH BULB PLEASE. its just under 2 34W flours right now

you are overwatering them for shure... once they sprout you should only water when they top inch and a half are dry.

if you have the mh i would add it now..because the brighter light will help dry it up a bit

I'd say overwatering also. Although I did have a plant in a cup that was way to small for it once and it dried out when I missed watering it one day. It got dehydrated and bent over kinda like it was overwatered. What kinda temps do you have? If it is extremely hot in the space I could see it being a big problem. Also does the jiffy pot have any weight to it? It should be surprisingly light when it is dry. How many lights do you have on it also and how far away are they? Oh and I'd say put it under the MH after about 2 weeks. You want them pretty hearty because the MH will be hot and dry them out faster. You want them in larger pots to be safe.

very cool fan on. no heat at all. very light weight this afternoon. the jiffy pot itself soaks up water and the fan dries it out. however i must be overwattering them..this response is undeniable, thanks for the info, i would have deff drownded them to death. this is my first grow, for any type of plant. this sit has been very helpful..the MH is on its way, through mail. any other ideas on quick drying? on top of a gas heater for a little while?

OK lets slow down here.....you said you were watering 2-4 oz a day which sounds like alot, but the peat pots seem dry? I'd suggest getting a new jiffy pot and expand it....when its done feel how much it weighs, see how much drips from it, get a feel for it. You don't want dripping soaking, you dont want bone dry....you want moist. If they are sitting there in jiffy pots, I'd transplant THOSE into a party cup and soil..its going to be much easier to judge water needs.

ok. yes i've been going by the motto moist. the 4oz was a stretch, the most is 2oz per day. if i transplant into party cup, how much water and how often should i water them.

Be sure to put some drainage holes in the cup (5 or 6), and water in well the first time to settle the soil and eliminate air pockets...you should see it draining freely from the bottom. At this point feel how heavy the cup is. Then dont water again until it the heft of the cup is light. Maybe a couple days. When you do water again, water til it runs from your drainage holes - give it a good soak. Once roots start filling the cup, you'll be watering more often. Again, IMO the best way to know when to water without a gauge, is by the weight of the pot.
