Ok I have a 30ft x 15ft garden with 5 rows that are raised into mounds. The last frost is gone in my region so I though planting now would be ok. I have already dug drainage ditches, and put 10-10-10 fertilizer in the dirt when I tilled it. I need to know if It is required to start veggies inside, because I just poked three in holes about 2-3inches deep and 10-12 inches away from each other and planted 3-4 seeds in each whole. Then I gave them a good watering, I bought 12 Marion, and 6 early girl tomatoe plants from nursery today and have already planted them. Will my seeds germinate right or are they to deep? If I keep them moist will they germinate? If it doesnt drop below 50F will they germinate?, and If the humidity here is at 80% then will that increase my chances of germination. I also need to know if all my seeds germinate will they be alright so close together or will I have to kill 1 or 2. If you can answer all or any of these questions I will +rep you. Thanks alot guys.

Come on someone here on RIU can answer me, I know your all not burnt out just most of you. lol
hi man...2 to 3 inches is too deep. I usually go 1/2 inch at most and cover loosely with soil. with a mellow misting once a day. thats for all the seeds.....as far as spacing when planting.....things always shift more than u will think....so Id over seed the rows meaning plant seeds every 3 or 4 inches and thin to the reccomened space once established.....sometimes animals will snip ur seedlings so dont thin for several weeks. like say 3 to 4 weeks. you will also see what seedlings are strong by then......dont feed them for a few weeks either. just water.

i mixed in some rock looking fertilizer it said 10-10-10 NPK so that would be good for vegitation, but what should I give them when they are putting off the actual veggies something like 5-10-10 or 20-30-50. Why is 2-3 inches to deep, if I planted them any shallower the soil would dry out too often during the day I would have to mist them with water like 3 times daily. I am not worried about animals because I built a fence around it to keep rabbits, moles, squirells, and other pest out. I planted my corn today and gave it a good watering, I have read up on corn and I planted them 6" apart on the row and 2ft between the rows in a square shape because I read that corn pollinates better and the co rn cobbs develope better if in a square shape. How long does corn take to geminate and sprout on average?, and if I planted 2-3" deep does that mean that they wont germinate or they will just take longer to sprout.
