I have heard rain water is the best thing to use - do you think that will be the best option until i can get a Ph kit or should i leave tap water out for 2 - 3 days?

His tips are burning he does not have hot spots on the leafs i still think its ph ...but u should alwas mist with ur light off

hehe. i love it. my neighbor let me borrow his PH meter yesterday. and my tap water is 6.5 and stays the same when i add the nuts...

I've used nothing but rain water since they started flowering. I have had no problems. I collect it in buckets from the valleys on my roof, no shit filled gutters. Rain water has a ton of micronutes that you have to add back with RO water. I don't live anywhere near a pollution filled environment. I'm fed with the great white north. I use the recomended amounts of nutes and about 2-3 tblspoons of mollasses....

You are taking a risk. The Ph could be fine or it could be royally F-ed up either way, but you sound like a gambling man. In your situation I'd go with the rainwater.
That said, just get a meter. Aquarium store, a store with pool supplies, ebay, hydro shop, etc.

For starters, never use halogen lights. They are not fit for growing(like you didn't know that) Be sure to have control of your PH and EC.(too high or too low you might kill your plant) = Not Preferable, lol
