help...my lights

hey i have a double tube setup by american lights. for some reason it worked for a few days fine. then i walked in one day and it was off. it said on it "if light isnt on unplug power and plug back in" i did this and it turned on but only for a few seconds. if i leave it unplugged for a long period of time it will stay on for longer.

btw it isnt hanging like it should be, its vertical in a corner going the legnth of the plant. could this be why its malfunctioning?

If the tubes are vertical then you lose some of the lumens because they are hitting the sides of the pot.

The light sounds busted, you should consider investing in some CFL's, they will be a lot easier to work with.

cfl sucks hps better mate so u dont get popcorn buds

I was going on the lines of what he currently has

CFL's dont necessarily suck either

only really get r popcorn bud more yeild with hps tho no dissing u but ur setup is okay need more cfl for sure mate

used, my rm bought it for 5 dollars (he works at a pawn shop) i just dont get why it will turn on then right off

Thats what happens when the ballast starts to go out .....sorry for the bad news ...

If it had been new then I would have said prob. a short but ...its more than likely the ballast......

ok i left it unplugged all night and plugged it in at 5 and its been fine for 3 hours wtf

Only thing that comes to mind is one of your bulbs is loose and loosing contact...check that out ....keep me posted Bro...

if one bulb goes/isnt sitting right, the circut is closed right?

Both bulbs have to be making contact at all times for the light to work ....If a bulb goes out or you remove it the remaining bulb won't work.......Oh and thanks for thre reps Bro...
