it's hygrometer, and they aren't necessary unless you plan on putting your flowers in the jar before they are ready
touché, hygrometer it is
necessary is a perspective viewpoint, some feel they don't need them and can judge by 'eye'
my experience is they are a huge help, no more guessing, and the cost is minimal

I drop mine in jars as soon as they are crispy on the outside. I open the jar the NEXT DAY then close it when they feel crispy again. I repeat until there's no change. Now your cured, leave it in the jar. Curing is easy. Crispy, wet, crispy, wet, crispy, cured. The less you handle your buds the less trichomes will fall off, if you care about that sort of thing. Good luck!

You could jar them now but you would have to leave the jars mostly open for the next few days...I always try to jar too soon...so be strong and leave them hang..I always take mine down too early and then take forever to cure to seal...the best ones turn out when I stick it all in a box and stick it under the bed and kinda forget for a week or 2...I did this last harvest with the popcorn and smaller buds...hung the big ones and boxed the small...they were like weeks in a jar cured too and in only 2 weeks...I am going to try this with a large bud or 2 next time...

yep...but if you wait a little longer there will be fewer cycles of crisp - wet etc...so it is preference...I like that the ones under the bed stay nice and sparkly, while I tend to upset the ones in the jar so all their outer shiney-s fall off..they still sparkle on the inside..and I end with a jar of sparkles..and that is always good, but alas...I prefer all the trichomes to glitter on the buds, so I am going to start leaving mine to hang longer and putting more in boxes to under bed cure for a couple weeks.

i think i messed up my curing on one of my jars. i put a hygrometer in there and it measured at 54%humidity. according to simon on his thread, that is too dry for curing to occur, so that sucks.

Yah i always hung them till you could roll up a J and smoke it no problem. Then I started my cure for a week or two. Done when all stems snap with no bend.
