Well take your seeds put them in a paper towel, get the paper towel damp but not wet, place the paper towel in a baggie and put ontop of your computer monitor, check twice a day to make sure they are still damp, change the paper towel daily too. Some seeds can crack within 24 hours some may take a week. Wait till you see the little sprout come out of the seed then place in your soil tap root down. be gentle with them and really no need for a plate.

You can also take distilled water in a solo cup and drop some seeds in it.Tap them down with your finger.Usually the ones that sink have a better chance of starting.Check ever twelve hours or so and keep tapping the ones down that float. If the seeds are fresh 90% of them will start. You want to put them in soil when they crack(a little white root will be visible on the bottom)with the root to the bottom of a 1/4 in. deep hole.Let the water cover the seed with soil.
