help me out please

so yesterday I was over at a buddies place to watch the baseball game and have some beers and while i was there he brought me up to his little closet op to ask me a few questions. one of them stumped me completely. He has a plant that he topped and has 3 tall main branches now. however, 2 of the branches have pods and are male, and the other one is pure white hairs and is starting to form bud sites. His question was is it possible to chop off the 2 branches showing male properties and continue growing the one that is female or is the whole thing going to turn hermie eventually???
