Help Me Help My Wife

Hi fellow RIUers
My wife has arthritis in her hands and wrists. I want to make pain reliving salve using coconut oil and some pretty potent bud and trim.

I am already planning on making some cannacoconut oil for cooking instead of cannabutter this time and I am already familiar with the process to make it for cooking.

What I'm unsure about is can she use the stuff I'm making for cooking or do I need to do a separate batch differently for the pain relief?
The cream will be used mostly in the morning as she wakes up with the pain and stiffness in her hands and wrists. She is a daily smoker but will be using this stuff before she goes to work and does not want to be high from it.

The questions are:
1) can she use the stuff we make for cooking to achieve pain relief?
2) will she get high from applying the cooking stuff to her skin?
3) if the answer is "yes she will get high" is there a different way I can make it that provides relief without a buzz?

Any suggestions or advice are greatly appreciated.

Many thanks from both if us.

She won't get high from applying it to her skin. At least I wouldn't think so lols. It'd be best to use a strain with more CBD, less THC. I'm sure you already know that.

Hmm. You could always skip the decarbing (or w/e it's called) step--the step that activates the THC into THCa I believe. Wow I need to brush up on the chemistry of this.

Thanks for the fast response. The things you mentioned about the CBD and skipping the decarb have crossed my mind. This topic is really hard to find a lot if info on. Worse case scenario is that she gets high. Not so bad really.
Thanks for your input unk

Don't mention it ;) and yeahh this is kind of one of those things too where there's not a whole lot you can do, just basic things.

Yup! Makes it smell good and apply well. Plus most body butters have things in them to help the skin absorb them.
Thanks I'll try that. She uses coconut oil daily as a skin moisturizer. But like you said the body creams have things in them to help absorb into the skin. Good thinking my friend. Thanks again.

coconut is best suited as a carrier orally..not topically
oleic acid is great, look for something high in it

no she likely won't get high, wether decarbed or not

Alternatives include swallowing 1 tbs 4-6x daily and/or Pulling

Pulling can be done with Hemp Oil as well

Arthritis can be caused by too much Calcium, especially when not combined with magnesium

Magnesium Chloride baths could help reduce pain and break up the deposits

Stop taking calcium until pain is reduced by ~ 50% , then SLOWLY reintroduce

Very interesting info. I will be trying a couple different things for her. I really didn't know where to start. These suggestions are appreciated.

just copy a patent online..they show flux rates etc to help with dosage and tested formulations
there are a variety of carriers as well as permeation enhancers, stabilizers etc.
unrefined sunflower oil is the best choice. you could add 5-10% ethanol or propylene glycol.. it's fairly easy for just about anyone, could even make a patch

you should also really be extracting the cannabinoids and saturating the carrier oil with it to have good potency. extracting with an oil is pretty inefficient and requires heat to speed dissolution, especially ineffective if you did want the cannabinoids in carboxyl form
