Priorities:
500-800 budget
No odors - wife doesn't smoke
Low noise - it's going in the bedroom closet, my clothes are going in the computer room.
Out of sight - it's 2x2x4 homebox, so won't be a problem
Easy to use - speaks for itself
Ok, so I've been tossing around a lot of ideas the last month or so. I would like to start building my grow box/tent at the end of December. So I still have quite a bit of time to decide on a few things.
I was thinking about a cabinet, but decided to go with a Homebox, the tent box thing. The one I'm thinking is 2'x2'x4'. Small, yes I know.
Then I was thinking about 2 of them, one for mothers and clones, 1 for flower. But when I talk about doing more than one, the old lady starts giving me the evil eye. So for now, 1 box and maybe do 2 later on.
So here's what I've got rolling around my head. I'll go with one box, grow a couple female seeds, take clones, veg them for a week or so, and flower them. Maybe get a bunch of single cola plants.
It takes longer, will cost more in seeds. But it keeps everything in 1 small box, and I'll get to test out several strains by purchasing more seeds. Maybe if I find a strain I love, I'll make more fem seeds.
To keep heat down, I'll be using a combo of t5 and cfl lighting.
What size containers should I grow in? I was thinking 1 gallon which I think are 6 inches in diameter, so 16 1 gallon containers with 12-18" tall single cola plants.
I'm going to use soil. I was thinking hydro, but I'm growing for quality, and there's a greater chance I'll fuck up something with hydro which will cut the quality.
Nutrients, I don't know. I thought about advanced nutrients. But it looks like there's 40 different things to mix up. So maybe just a GH 2 part, with a few extras and molasses.
Lighting, probably a 20"x24" 6 row t5 and throw in 4-6 25 watt cfls where there's dark spots. Mixing 6500k and 3000k bulbs for a 30/70 ratio.
So, what do you all think?

Where do you foresee some problems?
What sort of yield do small grows like this produce? I don't need a lot, but the more I can get, well you know what I mean.
My budget is/was about 500, but I could go 800 give or take if I needed to in order to accomplish my goals.
Edit: I've been reading a little more about 250 watt hps. I might be inclined to go for something like a Lumatek digital ballast, with hortilux for flower, mh for veg. I'm just not sure how if I could fit the hps, filter, and plants into a 4' high space. What you guys think?
