HELP! limited height in my room and plants are getting tall quickly

ive been veg'ing my plants for about 5 weeks now,and they have shot up in the past few days. it would be a good thing but my ceiling is low.
im worried that when i start flowering theyll continue to grow and they hit the lights :( . how much do they tend grow while flowering?

is there any way i can safely trim them now, so that ill have room for them to grow when flowering?

cheers bongsmilie

The longer you veg the taller the plant when finished. If height is an issue you should have vegged maybe 3 weeks before going to flower.
Vegging 3 weeks means the plant will "stretch" or grow more during flowering.

In the future --
A. Shorten veg time. Putting a 18-incher into flower will result in a 36-inch plant to harvest.
B. Use smaller pots. I have some 7-quart, 1 3/4 gallons, pots that I use for mother plants when space is dear. Even after giving up a dozen clones
she is still at 32-36 inches because I am keeping her restrained in a smallish pot.
C. FIM or top the plant at 1-2 weeks into vegging. Cutting the top of the plant forces it to grow sideways and bushy instead of tall. Wait until she is
about 8-10 inches too tall and remove the top 8-10 inches as a clone. That's a two-fer, eh?

Good luck and keep us posted.
BigSteve.

I would definatly LST! Just take the top of the plant, loop some cotton twine around it, bend her slowly to the side of the pot, and tie the twine to the side of the pot. I have tied mine down all the way through the grow, main stem and side branches, and it looks like i have 9 plants growning out of one pot! I too have a small grow space ( 2'x2'x4') so tieing down is a must if i want a good yeild. Tie her down now and you will love the results!

Good luck!
