Help? Leaf discoloration

  • First everything's too wet, so it could be an early sign of septoria but it's more likely a calcium/magnesium issue so far
  • What the hell is with these little dots?
  • Anyway yes I know you just sprayed it, why are you're spraying it? I know some people do, I never spray anything, the risks do not outweigh the benefits in my opinion, I guess it's a personal choice
Need info, medium what you feeding it your pH all such things
-good luck!

Looks like damage by spraying so stop spraying your plants. Why do you spray?

I've seen that many times with my plants where one leaf is laying on top of another and the moisture given off by the upper leaf gets trapped between the two. The lower leaf gets that same brown colour and it's permanent damage. Not a big deal but had me wondering the first few time I saw it.

I foliar spray all plants only this one is doing this. I read foliar spraying is good way to feed your plants. Didn't know it was a bad thing. Read online it is good to do

Stop doing it for best results. Can cause fungus, mold issues very easily. Soon enough you'll be fighting to lower your humidity anyway so you'll figure it out one way or another but that could be the start of septoria, that's exactly what mine looked like when it started, I still remember it started as one or two little brown spots on two cash crops automatic freebies

What are you growing in, looks Hydro ..what are you feeding it and what about pH & temps?

Dwc, 5 gallon buckets. Veg under 4 foot 4 bulb ho t5. Got a 400 mh on the way and got a 1000 watt mh already but afraid to use such intense light. Budding will be under 1000 w hortilux HPS. I start off with about 4 gallons of 0ppm ro water (water a lil above bottom of net pot) Then. 4 or 200 ppm .5 scale of calimagic, gh flora trio micro grow and bloom. Then I add rapid start. Then I ph it to 6.1 and wait for it to mix well for about 30 minutes bubbling before I add hydroguard. Room temps 61 to 66 degrees Fahrenheit. Humidity ranges from 40 to 47 percent. Water temps ranges from 60 degrees Fahrenheit to 63 degrees Fahrenheit. Ppm .5 scale between 400 and 500ppm. Between. 8 and 1.0 ec. Just topped after 6 nodes of growth, I topped on 4/25/18 above the 3rd node for 2 shoots, there already sprouted out and started to grow. Gonna top for 4 shoots after 4 nodes of new growth in between the 2nd and 3rd node of new growth. Then I plan to supercrop and scrog them. I will stop foliar feeding. Thanks for your suggestions. Doing a flush for a day this weekend to remove salts then adding new water and nutes the next day. Change res on all 4 buckets 1 time a week with a 1 day flush in between changes to remove salts. I battled root rot from my seedlings when they were small plants cuz I thought it'd be a good idea to bring it in the hottest room of my house, water temps got too hot and I got pythium or root rot as you call it. Rookie mistake. Only my second grow and learned the hard way on that. I did win the battle though and now there blowing up with white healthy roots and loving life. 1st legal grow, I did one illegal years ago with a friend who taught me using gh Lucas formula. I was disappointed in my yields and grow room. I've improved everything and got legal for this grow.

No need for that. Remove salts from where?

You can totally screw your plants by dropping their ppm to zero then back up the next day. I used tubs and would prepare a 2nd tub with fresh nutes and lift the lid with plants off the old mix and drop it on the new one. On those rare occasions that I did a nute change. Often I ran from clone to harvest without a nute change. RO water and AN 3-part.

A lot of strains just have purple stems.

Your temps are quite low but if your plants like it should be fine. Just a cold room or you using A/C and a chiller?

Basement in u.p. of Michigan. Still cold out and snow on ground
Our snow is almost gone except for where it had drifted up 5 or 6 feet but warm weather hit fast the last week and we had flooding all over the place. Wished the A/C worked in the car when we went to town yesterday. :)

I have my main grow room in the basement too. It's a 10 x 25' concrete box in the ground under the house/mobile where the water works for my dugout water comes in. The previous owner had built a grow room in the end by the stairs that is 7x9' outside dimensions. Has 4" intake and exhaust vents that I used for 10 years before I got around to cutting a hole in the stub wall on top of the concrete and installing a 6" vent that empties under the shop.

At least my basement didn't flood like it did five years back but it happened in June.

Had to do a fast rescue and get my girl out of the flood waters and set her up to drain. She survived and gave me a half pound of bud. :) 8" of water.

All my grow room air come from the greater basement area where the temp never gets higher than about 64F and down to near freezing but can never be allowed to get to freezing. It gets filtered through those vents you can see on the left of the pic and I've added more vents. Anti-static wipes behind the vents to filter out most everything. The sump is behind that panel I made to enclose the area as I kept getting fungus gnats and eventually found them breeding in the sump hole. Dumped some malathion in there and sealed the hole. There is a slight gap at the bottom to let water pass if I have a spill but I put diatomaceous earth along it so bugs can't pass. A plastic window lets me inspect the sump without having to remove the panel.

Nice not to have to use A/C tho I could use a dehumidifier to run the room sealed for my CO2 burners.

First off, it's ok to foliar feed during veg, however, the damage on your's, might possibly be that your leaves are wet and the lights are in turn burning the leaf where the droplets are. The dots are not magnesium or calcium related! Like others have said, having your leaves wet and not having proper air movement will cause alot of headaches! On that note, you can avoid this if you learn to foliar properly. When you foliar spray, do not spray the top of the leaves, and try to avoid the stem as well. The underside of the leaves is where you should focus, and never ever foliar feed with the lights on. If you have ever did this to your leaves, and lfet them under the light before they dried, that explains your discoloration..it's a burn. If you want, you can read this article, maybe it will help steer you in the right direction. https://www.maximumyield.com/the-dos-and-donts-of-foliar-feeding/2/3418

I agree. I stopped foliar feeding all together.

I see water spots on other plants leafs too just not as bad. When I stopped spraying it stopped getting worse. So I think it was spraying too much and while lights are on. I veg 24 hours too so lights always on

It doesn't necessarily mean that those spots are not caused by an underlying deficiency issue, so vigilance is required for best results!
-good luck:leaf:
