Help extend MMJ authorization

Hey!

I know you guys might be sick of these topics, but my issue is a bit different than others. Basically, I have a legitimate reason for MMJ (I have had back pain since I was 14 which come and go) which got much worse in last 2 years. I've tried describing this to the best of my abilities, but the doc said that it's "a borderline condition" and gave me authorization for 3 months only. I will have to phone him back in next 3 months and describe anything new regarding my condition. From what he was telling me, he might extend it, but he might actually revoke the authorization too.

So the question is, can anyone help me with what I should be looking out for? Like, how can I convince him that I actually need it? My original complaint was that my back hurts so bad I have troubles falling asleep (which is btw, true). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

And btw, the doc was super cool and I had a feeling he is trying to help me, but I understand he cant be putting words in my mouth, so I'm asking for advice in here.

More trips to the doctor. I have my script because of back pain too. I have had a discectomy and still have pain. My doctor only gave me mine for a year. Guess I have to renew? Have you had an MRI done? That's the ONLY way to see what's going on with your back. Good Luck.

My patient crushed 3 of his vertebra in his spine & has to renew his annually as well. He's been on SSD since crushing his back about 9 years ago but WA. state decrees it so he has to abide by it. 1 year is the longest I've seen WA go for.

In regard to the 3 month authorization & what to tell your doc; you need to show a medical history with ongoing problems. I'd say if you're serious, see a back specialist & see if you have any swollen or bulging discs. The more info you have to necessitate medical MJ the easier of a time your doc will have in prescribing it.

Hmmm, what do i do then? I have a herniated disc, got all my medical papers faxed to the THCF clinic in portland and they gave me a card for a year. Doc doesn't even know i have my card i don't think since i don't see him anymore. So what's going to happen when i need to Re-up my card?

I suggest you see the same doc who gave you the mj referral in PDX in the 1st place but keep the primary doc you were seeing all along as your primary care provider. Most other docs & insurance companies prefer you have a primary care physician. If you don't think your primary care doc is going to play nice in the MJ sandbox, find another doc. That's the beauty of health care, you are able to change doctor's until you find one who sees eye to eye with you.

I don't have a primary doc at all, i was sent to this doc cuz the insurance company made me, this is the first doc i've seen in like 10 years lol. I effed up my back at work, won a HUGE insurance case and made alot of money off it, i just don't have them paying for anything anymore, i'm considered stable, but still have the herniation. Point is i guess, I have no doc, my visits to the previous doc (which did not refer me, i just had the office fax my papers to the clinic) are closed now and if i see the doc i have to pay for it myself. But as far as that doc office is concerned I'm not a patient there anymore. Do I need a doc to redo my card or can i just go to the clinic and say "hey, i need a new card ?"

You will need to have a doc who is licensed in the state of WA. sign off on renewing your MJ card. In accordance with WA. state law it HAS to be done every year for you to keep on growing & whatever doc is signing off on they are going to want to see your medical history to necessitate renewing your card to grow & consume. This is because WA. requires the physician to prove you have a chronic condition & you are being prescribed MJ in accordance to the letter of the sate law.

If it were me I would make sure to keep my medical records around in case of you have to go in & see a new doc or if you ever had the five-oh come & knock on your door. It's good information to keep on hand in certain instances where doctors or johnny law happen to get involved. I'm no expert by any means but the guy I'm growing for is telling me all of the hoops he's had to jump through to get on board with all of this so I can't let him down & I am only passing on the information that he has given me.

Ya, the Doc at the clinic is an actual doctor and he is the one that signed off on my card. So that answers that question, they have all my medical records on file. I'll get copies of my shit at the doc's office to thats a good idea. All i really need is my MRI the doc said. So hell ya!

Side note, i seriously don't know why people have so many issues. I skipped the whole "getting your doc to recommend it" by simply having the doc office fax my records to the clinic, the clinic then approved my condition and BAM, card! took literally 10 days from the fax date and a $150 to have my card in hand.

Nice, I'm glad I could lend some helpful insight here. You said you went to THCF in PDX to get your card right? I have a fmaily member who's had chronic knee pain after knee surgery a few years back & suffers from chronic cysts so THCF has Doc's on staff who are certified in WA. & OR.?

Well they issue'd me a wshington state card, so i'm assuming so. I live in the couv and oly is the closest clinic. But its the same clinic so I'm assuming it's legit. It better be!!!!!! lol

The only thing I found in the Couve was this place: http://www.cbrmedical.com/Vancouver/vancouver.htm & it looks pretty shiesty so thanks for the heads up on the PDX referral there. I will surely pass the info along to my family.

Ya no prob, jsut make sure you tell them right off the bat or else they treat it like an Oregon case which is a tad different. Like in Oregon they woulda had to do something different to get me approved. But it woulda worked out the same

Thanks for the heads up, I don't think I can make it up to Tacompton.. I mean Tacoma for an MMJ card but I'll tell other people in passing about it. I appreciate you posting the good word Lisa!
