HELP!! DWC PLANT DYING!

Doesn't look like root rot. They go all dark and slimy and chunks of root fall off or pull off real easy. There are different types of root rot too so cant be sure without actually being there.

It's only been a couple days so it might look better in a couple more. AN makes a product called Revive for sick plants. I've never used it and the guy was out when I bought a bunch of stuff recently or I'd have some so I can't say for sure if it would be any help.

Hang in there!

Hey brother .... sorry youre having such issues ...... question, you said you cleaned the bucket .... did you use clorox or any detergent? Or just simply rinsed it with water? If you did use something, maybe the residual amount is whats shocking her. Nute change and time should help .... otherwise just wait it out akd see what happens. You also said the roots smell a little. How is that compared to the other plants? Whats the structure of the roots (if touched or pulled a lil) compared to the others?
If all is the same, id say waiying and less stressing about it is the best you van do NOW til time tells whats up
Happy growin brother

Your plant is pretty much dead.

Look at the COLOUR?!@??!?!!? of your water...that must be an EC of 8.

You have burned them so badly that they never even got burned, they dead.

Learn from your mistakes. go get an EC meter.

RIP Plant.

What colour is the water supposed to be then oh yee of such vast knowledge?

Psychic ppm meter in your head to read ppm from a picture? What an awesome power.

The water seems very red.

An indicator of high iron & sulfur content.

Look into Spectrophotometry - It is the most accurate way to measure water quality, the COLOR of the water.

You can determine exactly what is in the water based off its color.

Pretty cool hey?

They available here if you want one:

https://www.hunterlab.com/miniscan-ez-4500l-spectrophotometer.html

Much more accurate than an EC meter.

My assessment is in no way binding nor definitive, purely my conclusion based on very limited info and should be taken as an opinion only.

If you were looking at just water then maybe colour is an indicator of mineral content but nutes add different colours to the water that is in no way indicative of it's EC or mineral content.

A spectrophotometer compares the reflective colours in a sample against a standard for what is being tested for and not something your average home grower has the budget for.

Just saying it's rather presumptuous of you to come to the conclusion you did from a picture that doesn't likely show the real colour in the first place.

It is not presumptuous of me.
I also work in the water industry, I do have a good eye for clean water, irrigation & fertigation water. Believe it or not you can tell a lot just by looking at water:)

I have grown in DWC buckets multiple times, Just like you.
The only time my res looks like that is if im using organic nutes (they change the color a lot) or a LOT of chemical nutes.

Also high IRON will cause the water to go that color.

My diagnosis may be wrong...but I am not making this stuff up or reading it online somewhere, I have had issues like this before and resolved them and this issue is user error or broken meter or something like that.

You using chemical nutes?

Hydroponic nutes. Chemical nutes has a negative connotation much like marijuana does compared to cannabis. Many people confuse them with bad chem like pesticides etc and they are just salts exactly like the ones that organic materials get converted to by the micro-herd that works to feed the plants. Everything comes down to chemistry tho.

At the moment growing in a blend of soil/soilless, all by ProMix and feeding AN nutes and a few supplements. Seems to work better than using just the soilless. Not sure when I will do DWC again as I'd need to come up with something better than single tubs to ramp up production. All stocked up on various bags of mix so will likey do a SoG type grow with multiple plants in pots that can can be bulk watered in a large tray from the bottom.

Think we need to stop hijacking this thread tho. ;)

Ok thanks for the info.

However Chemical nutes and organic nutes are different. Organic nutes requires enzymes to break down the "food" into available NPK nutrients etc. Bacteria create enzymes. With Chemical nutes, you are using pure chemicals and nothing else. No need for bacteria to make the nutrients available to the plant.

I'm not a hydro user (yet), but if I look at your roots, they don't seem to be very healthy, no rocket scientist needed here to see that.

These thing I like to be seen journalled.

Hydro will be added soon to the journals. Check out at http://growarijo.com/show-journal-public/1

The roots are fine, they just stained the color of the water...

You can see no roots floating in the res, which means the roots are intact (roots will detach very easily if they have an issue).
