No, you're wrong shotty. 6500 Kelvin spectrum is for vegetative growth and 2700K is for flowering. You can, and should use several (4x) 20w (lower wattage) 6500K (Daylight) for vegetation and (2x per plant) 42w 2700K (Soft White) for flowering.

The 42w CFLs you use for flowering are expensive ($9 per) and you need at least 2 per plant as you should aim for (a minimum) of around 100w per plant in flower.

Of course you can also use Warm White, it's just more efficient for the plant to use Soft White.

And you could use 6500K or 2700K/3000K all the way through if you wanted to but its just not the most effective thing to do.

RollItUp.prg CFL Tutorial

Still looking around for my link that explains how the plant uses the light spectrum and why some CFLs are better than others...

I like to use four of the 2700k 9-watt CFLs (I think about 500 lumens each) per plant during early bloom. I can get them really close since they're not too hot.
Then I switch to four of the 2700k 26-watt CFLs (like 1,800 lumens each) per plant the last few weeks to really pulverize those trichromes. Again, not too hot, so I can get em in close!
I keep my plants short like 18" so I get good overall coverage from these four lights per plant.

LuvMeSum420,

Have you tried the 42w 2700Ks? I wonder how they compare with the 26w ones? The 26w ones are much cheaper, I may give them a try.

No, I suspect that the 42w's are too hot for me.
2x the distance = 1/4x the light. I like to use the weaker lights and get em all up in them buds. I want the tips of my colas fan leaves just a tiny bit burned--that's now I know the buds are getting max light!
I just counted over 30 CFL bulbs in my little sanctuary. It's kind of a pain moving these things around, but it's a labor of love. In fact, I'd actually call it a love affair with CFLs and tin foil, right now! But they're cheap (4-packs, right?), easy to replace, and I don't get my skin seared off by a HOT bulb!

It doesn't say what spectrum it is. It says 2700 Lumens, but lumens refers to the intensity of the light (compared to a candle) and not the color temperature (Kelvin rating). Not to mention that one is pricey.

If you are in the USA, go to Lowes because they have them clearly marked and the 2700K Soft White 42w spirals are only $8-$9. "Only" is relative of course because at Lowe's you can also buy a 6 pack of 2700K Soft White 26w for the same price as a single 42w one.

If it 2700K then that's what you want for flowering. You can opt for lower wattage bulbs to get closer to the plant, but need more of them, or you can go with the higher wattage ones like 42w but have to move them a bit farther back.

I'm trying the 26w ones right now on my grow, which I put into flowering today.
