:idea:Which would you pick for overall best growth? Growth doesn't have to be fast, but healthy, lush, and when flowering begins, cola development to be off the charts...:hump:

Thanks....

Sylvania Growlux Expanded Spectrum, 58,000 lumens - 2050K

Sylvania SHP - T w/o blue light, 55,000 lumens - 2050K

many ppl talk about grow room size when talking of lumens, however, I believe only canopy size counts as you're not growing weed where you're not growing weed...so, it would depend on how many plants you want to grow...and whether or not you'll use any side lighting. who cares how much light hits the floor beside your crop. as long as you have a hood redirection the majority of light down to the canopy. as plants need light in the blue spectrum during vegging, HPS is not the best choice for that time, but it will work. red spectrum light is most necessary for flowering, hps is great for that time. mixed spectrum light is the best for all around. so, if you're gonna go with just one light or one type of light...chose one of those 'expanded' spectrum lights, imo.

i dont think many people know about every one of those bulbs, nor would they do the research to answer your post but what i do know is if you are going to use 1 bulb only it should be a hps any good brand should be good and if you your ballast isnt switchable you should also get a mh conversion bulb so for under 50 bucks extra you will have the optimum lightingmh and hps

The higher quality lamps put out more lumens at an expanded spectrum. It depends on your budget. Never use cheap chinese bulbs, if you are just running the one light for a small grow you will not see a huge difference in yield. For larger grows the additional cost for a higher end bulb is often worth it. Obviously your Sylvania Growlux is top shelf.

I posted all of the important information, there is no need for people to have to research these bulbs... It's more which spectrum is the best and if an increase in spectrum is worth the decrease in luminosity. People who know what their talking about in terms of lighting can compare the pros and cons of each bulb in the list and give me the ideal one for all conditions, including veg. flower. HPS only.

A 400W hps is going to be the easiest thing to work with. Don't hassle yourself with cfls, they're more work than worth and the 200 bucks you spend on the hps will make ten times that on your next harvest. I just grew 10.5 oz on one 400w light 12/12 from seed. It took just under 3 months with some killer indica as the result.

Do some experiments and you will find the best way to grow with the light you end up getting. You can grow good bud with all the lights but to grow great bud you need whichever light fits you best.

O.k., since no one gave me the better choice, I will do the guessing on my own. The Osram HQI - T Blue/White, veg... 42,000 lumens - 3700K should be the best, it doesnt have terrible lumanage and the spectrum is somewhere in the middle so this should tailor best to both sides of the grow, correct.....

I thought I already answered your question bro. The Hortilux is the BEST bulb however if you are only growing a few plants I would not spend the extra cash. Just don't use a cheap Chinese bulb. :peace:
