Help - 6 DWC Headbands in trouble

Well, I posted this in my grow thread, but havent really recieved any feed back there. So, I figured I would make a new thread in the hydro section and see what everyone's thoughts are.

Running 1000w MH for veg
100qt igloo coolers w/ 3-10" air stones in each running on a 110lpm air pump
rez temps have been around 18-19*C
room temp between 62F and 82F(lights off at night and lights on during the day)
running 20 hours on and 4 hours off

no nutes right now. just tap water, PH5.6 or so. Was about PH6.3 for the past few days(started at 5.8 and went up over the few days).

Pics I took a few days ago, the headbands are in DWC and the Platinums in dirt. The Platinums seem to be doing fine. I am feeding them at about 140ppm and ph6.3. watering every 2-3 days.

Cooler #1

Cooler #2

sooo sad lookin! Let me know what you guys think. At this point I am thinking I will keep feeding them the ph5.8 water for another week or until they start showing some real sign of turning around.

was also going to say, the 3 headbands with yellow leaves almost seem to want nutes, but, I dont want to burn them like I did before! You can see where they got burnt, but now all the yellow and light green is making me think they want some? I was thinking about swapping Plant #1 from cooler #1 with Plant #3 in cooler #2 to avoid burning the plant with nute burn already.

Why are the plants in the DWC setup flowering? Something is wrong.. You sure about your light schedule?

Edit : I would throw in a bit of nutrients for the one in the DWC. VERY LITTLE

oh, i forgot to mention. the guy I got the clones from...well....his brother or something along those lines had messed up the light schedule and put them into flower for a week. when he got back he put them back into veg. perhaps this is the reason they are doing so poor? he told me they should go back to veg and just stretch some.

The little guys are yellowing the leaves because they are using the nutrients from them to sustain itself. Once clones get a good root system going they will take off. Usually takes a week or two. As for the soil are you lifting the buckets to see how heavy they are before you water? They could be over watered. Other than that I see a tiny bit of nute burn on some of them.

yes, I just put them into these containers a few days ago and watered them then. Once they feel light again I will water. In the smaller containers, it was about a 2-3 day thing. Not sure on these ones yet.

So, I shouldnt worry about the yellowing on the headbands? I think Ill try giving them 100ppm or under come Sunday evening.

Your DWC clones remind me exactly of some bad Bubbas I once tried to revive.

All wilted and yellow just like that with a dark purple main stem. I examined the roots and they were pretty much all black with rot. I was confident that I would be able to work my magic and bring them back to life.

Well, after over a week of very little growth (that never happens in my system), I checked the roots. There was indeed white fuzz appearing from the black rotten roots, but it was taking way too long and the ph was all fucked up because of the dead roots rotting.

Your clones look pretty much as bad. You may be able to bring 'em back, but I have a hyper-system, and if it was taking so long to re-root in my setup, they'll take even longer in your setup... and there's a real possiblity that they won't make it at all. Give it a few more days, but be prepared to chuck those.

I checked them today, Cooler #2 roots are really starting to drop into the cooler now. All are very white and look healthy. I drained the cooler and gave them some nutes, water is now 150ppm/ph5.8.

Cooler #1 has no signs of roots yet.

So, Im pretty much expecting 3 of the 6 not to make it. I rotated my SCROG screen 90* to provide some screen over the 6 platinum clones I have growing in dirt.

Yeah, it's unfortunate that you'll lose a few, but some clones just can't make it. The Plat in soil looks great. I'm sure your dwc rooters will catch up quickly.

First off the ph climbing is due to the lack of nutes, nute companies put buffers in there nutes to stablize ph.
The other huge thing is there starving so please start feeding your girls. I often use 100 to 200 ppm a very light
Feeding to my clones during rooting also a bit of thrive alive couldnt hurt any!

I agree with the above, the clones that have roots should be getting nutes from 100-200 ppm IMO. The ones that don't have roots in the water I would top feed for a time or two with very, very light nutes (maybe 50 ppm). This may help them start roots faster if they are going to, but if they are in rockwool take the time to make sure that it has just become wet and not fully saturated. Also later if this works you should flush the medium with PH'd water so that you don't have any extra nute build up. I think those clones can make it with some effort on your part. Good luck and happy growing!

Nutes are in. 200ppm in cooler #2. Cooler #1 is at 100ppm. Plats are at 230ppm.

Ill continue to let Cooler #1 do its thing, but, if Cooler #2 takes off then Cooler #1 is going out and the Plats are going to take its place under the SCROG.

Pictures from this morning.

Pulled the worst looking headband in cooler #1.

The other headbands are looking better, starting to see some growth on the tops. The best one has almost 1" new growth. Cooler #2 is at 230ppm and Cooler #1 is at 150ppm. The roots are starting to turn get stained by the nutes. Thinking about adding some h202 to each rez.

Started to LST the plats. Had a couple of them bent over at 90* last night. This morning the tops were back pointing up, really growing now! Also, fed them. They are at 400ppm.

I also removed the SCROG screen. Figure if I do move, moving everything will be a million times easier w/out the SCROG. Depending how fast the Headbands start going, I might LST them to the cooler tops by putting some tie points around each pot.

Shew man them plants make my stomach turn :( Good new is tho : In DWC is you have new root growth it WILL survive. Then suckers will start to turn around soon, just give them time young jedi and they will show you the power of DWC. I can see the new growth coming in on a few of them suckers. I say 1 more week and then give them some more nutrients.

Edit : Good work on getting them things to come back around. You receiving them in flowering was a bad start for them. That is very hard on plants especially that small of a plant.

Yeah, gotta say that feeling just started to change the past few days. Checked them out this morning, looking even better than yesterday.
