HELP! 30 Days CFL Veg, not growing tall!

How big were your plants after 30 days of indoor veg?

Hi Everyone;

It seems to me that my 2 plants just aren't growing tall after 30 days of veg (see my grow log in signature below). I'm seeing behaviour that I witnessed in my first grow during flowering cycle, where it starts to grow so many leaves in the top, but doesn't wait for a new one to come out before another leaf starts to show. I don't see any "genitals" though.

I can smell *that smell* in the morning, which tells me they are somewhat healthy. I'm just concerned for their height.

Wondering what I can do to encourage vertical growth. Maybe my CFL's aren't strong enough? It's the same ones I used when I received my clone and grew it last time. Perhaps the pot is not big enough?

Would trimming some of the fatter fan leaves at the bottom encourage growth? Is it too early or does my plant seem too young for this kind of pruning?

HELP!

Thanks.

My putdoor plants are the exact same height on week 4. I have never used cfl but I plan on buying some this year. I would go with 24 hrs of light on veg. you may have done that already.what watt> are they T5?

from my knowledge thats a normal height for 4 weeks is your light on 18/6 or 24? ........18/6 will make em grow a bit quicker

At 18/6, my tallest was like 18" at 30 days (before topping/supercropping). Then again I'm growing Sativa's in Aeroponics so who knows?

This is a soil grow.

I'm actually running my lights at 16/8 ... maybe I'll bump that up to 18/6. I've also replaced 2 of the CFLs with 40watters, instead of the 20watt ones I had. Let's see if this makes a difference.

isn't all about the strain?

Isn't the main growth of a plant in the flowering stage. 2 to 3 times the height.
I'm no pro but thats what I'vre read.

I know some people leave the lights to far away from the plant and it stretches for the light.

I don't know just my 2 cents anyway.

Mine are about 4.5 inches after 22-23 days. White widow, I'm happy with that height so far.

run lights 24. i would never go less than 18/6 during veg. that's prob part of it. they do look healthy. don't cut fan leaves at this stage of growth. it would'nt matter if you had good branches with nice leaf growth, but never at this stage. using nutrients?

Thanks for all your help. I have taken corrective action thanks to all your suggestions.

1) Moved plants to within 4-6 inches of the lights

2) Changed timing to 18/6 instead of 16/18. Much happier !

I'm not using nutrients right now (I got some reallllllly good soil from the local hydro/growing store). I will probably begin that next week after I get my DNF nutes back from a buddy.
