Hello! I need favor......

First off, I'd like to begin by saying hello since I am a new member here =P And if anyone can help me out here with this specific problem, I'd be most grateful.

I got a job at Home Depot now in the Garden area and am doing my computer training, so its obvious that I passed the pre-employment drug test. But what I don't know is if Home Depot does regular or random drug tests. I am pretty sure that I wont be working the fork lift or any machinery, but it would still be a load off my back if anybody can answer this for me. If they don't, than is it only for moments like when I get injured on the job?

Please let it be people that have, or are currently working at Home Depot as well. I'd feel a lot safer than some random person making a guess at it. No offense =P

I worked at 2 different companies that did random testing...carried a test kit in my pocket the whole time, got called in 3 times and passed every one with the kit.

ps...ask a co-worker

What is a test kit and how does it help you pass the tests? Also, where could I buy one then? Sorry if this sounds very noobie to you haha, but this is the first job I landed that required a pre-employment drug test.

I'd appreciate it too if some more people could comment that work(ed) at The Depot

i highly doubt a place like home depot is going to give randoms m8.. once you pass the pre employment screening, you should be good to go imvho..

I suppose. Did you have a job like that before then? Meaning, they tested you once before hiring, and it was easy sailing after

That's ok man.......if you have pipe and smoke shops in your town they will have those kits....I'm retired now and can't think of the brand names.....good luck on your new job

You carry a small bottle of fake piss, enough to fill a jar for them to test....some come with a powder you dump in there to raise the temp for long enough for it to pass....sounds tricky but it's not....my boss once told someone that he didn't want anybody working for him who wasn't smart enough to pass a random....drove forklift for 25 years.

No they do not do random testing. But you are in the garden department which requires you use a machine forklift/reach/hi-low etc. If you were to ever drop material or any accident whatsoever just to cover there ass (homedepot ) will send you for a drug test asap. So if I was you either don't get certified for it or be very very careful if you want the Job

So, you were/are a Depot employee? Forgive me for being paranoid, but I landed a good job that I want to keep. I also have a bowl with my name on it =P

was:). I worked the lumber department/building materials which is about the same as garden. You need to use the machines to move pallets so once you are certified. You will be asked to do a whole bunch.

Than I guess that settles it =D Thanks so much, all of you, for the help on this! Now I don't need to worry about smoking the night before a work day unless if I make some accident. But if that happens, then i'll just be sure to buy a test kit for that situation. I'm sure that I won't be working any machinery just yet either. Maybe after my second week there =/, people do need to train me still after the computer testing

I know it's boring buy take your time on the computer. You are gonna wish to u did once you hit the work floor. I say a month or 2 and u will get trained for a machine

Sounds good. Sadly, I'm pretty close to finishing the computer tests though. I'm going in tomorrow and I'd say that I got maybe 3-4 hours left of the computer testing. I'll take my time though, like you said.
