Well-just a quick bio here.Been a bit of a head since highschool.Got introduced to smoke by one of my older brothers back when I was 16-or so.Around about 40 years ago,I enjoy it to say the least.Getting descent pot in northern ontario is a real pain for someone my age(56) cause everyone thinks your a narc.So Ive decided to grow my own.I have already purchased feminized seeds of a variety that Ive enjoyed in the past(white widow) and would like to know how deep a pot I need to grow descent sized plants? Thanks for any input-MM

I know exactly what ur going through !!! I have had to rely on my kids with an exchange program to get something to smoke & where I live in the ozarks of Mo. its crap, a bunch of brick pack mexican that sucks, so Now that Im finally divorced I have my first grow going now.. Its only 3 plants at presant all autos, but in another month I will get another 3 going & then try to learn all the new stuff thats happened in the last 30 yrs.. I tell you things sure have changed in that time !!!

Welcome madmonk .. from southern ontario here and although I've been growin for a long time, I know how hard it can be to get descent smoke if you don't grow.

The rule of thumb is a gallon pot / per foot .. but I would say a 2 to 3 gal pail would be your best bet if your going soil/soiless with the autoflowers. But have seen amazing things with just a 32oz cup ..

have to agree tyedyed60 .. there are so many ways to grow its amazing what growers have accomplished .. and then you add the different styles people use as far as lighting and ferts. it is a learning curve. But take it from an old grower .. once you get set in your style .. keep it simple and watch your plants and above all have fun:lol:

Im not looking to do anything but have enough to help me not take as many pain meds & learn & have fun, this is alot different than growing in dads corn ftelds or in the sequoias in cali, I am just amazed that I paid over $10.00 per seed when we used to just throw them out, this is such a trip.. Do u have any advice for me on growing ?? I am not into all this hydro & big bucks light systems & I have to keep it very cheap & stealthy

I can only tell you street prices around where I live .. mids are 200 oz.- outside bud harvested last year - descent smoke ..
premium is 280 to 320 - mostly hydro right now
I just grow for myself ... but those are the prices I hear from guys at work.

I don't live close to any legal disp. so can't quote on their prices.

hehe know exactly what you mean about seed price shock .. but the only alternative to buying seeds is growing a mother and taking clones .. more space needed and more cost. I'm too old not to be cheap lol retirement is just around the corner .. if you know what i mean. Autos are great for keeping costs down .. but think of it this way. Take your costs of growing and put them against the cost of buying ..I think auto seeds don't seem that bad of price for what you get. I myself buy photoperoid fem seeds .. grow a couple at a time and spread the cost out.

Bummer that you can't grow your own, it's about the only way to ensure you get what you like instead of haveing to take what you can find.

I grow enough for myself, but know of friends that have to search and pay the piper, then it's a flip of the coin on what your recieving.

It seems to be " the right time, the right place" kind of thing any more unless you know a grower personally.
