Make sure you have the bulb tight enough, sometimes they can be a pain. Did you let it to cool down? I had that happen to me once. My fans raddled the bulb loose and had a hard time getting it tight enough in that socket after that.

Magnetic OR Digital Ballast? have you tried unplugging for 10-15mins...then trying again, IF Digital has it got a built in Fuse(side of Ballast, not Plug) anyhoos Hope you sort.

Hi all thanks for all the advice I got a friend to look at it who knows a bit about electrics there was a loose wire in the ballast he said its proberly from the fan blowing on the wire and causing it to move all the time and it has made it come loose

Your electrical circut for that ballast is messed up you'll have to install a new one. Theres no way to fix household electric things that are broken you'll just have to buy a new one
Well there is some poor advice. Anything in your house can be fixed, i do it all the time. My plasma Tv died, i opened it up and found a blown fuse, $2.50 later i have a working tv. I've repaired elec coffee makers, a microwave, multiple computers, fans, etc. There used to be a time when people actually fixed things rather than throwing it out before even looking at it, but we've been led into a wasteful consumer based society.

yeah you got that right just remember all if it happens to you check the wiring fan doesn't even blow that hard but he has put a clip inside my ballasts now so the sway shouldn't make them come loose again

Well have you fixed your ballast yet ? You can't criticize my advice until you fix your ballast, then I will give you all of my blessings.

I've worked on Mag ballasts, replacing caps/starters, rewiring from 277 to 120/240. A Digi isn't much different, diodes,resistors,etc..it's simple electronics if you understand it. My biggest issue with repairing this stuff is there are no more Radio Shack type stores around to get the components.
