Heavy Resin producing strains

A friend of mine is on the hunt for heavy resin producing strains that grow well in DWC/Hydroponic. He has ordered a number of feminized strains but wants to start things out with between 6-8 strains. With all the rave about Rosin, BHO, shatter, concentrates, etc... few seedbanks document much about resin production. He has read that many commercial growers have just a few strains they exclusively use for resin production for concentrates, as concentrate yield is very strain specific. So my friend is asking for help from you!

Factors: Heavy resin production, yeild, and variety. Variety ie: not only in strain type (indica vs sativa vs hybrid), but flavor profile too, etc...

Selection:

pineapple chunk - 650 g/m2, 21% THC, mostly indica
la sage cbd - 450-500 g/m2, resin good for extraction, mostly sativa
k-train - 800 g/m2, 23 % THC, indica
jack herer - 800 g/m2, 21%, mostly sativa
strawberry sour diesel - 22%, mostly sativa, cup winner
gorilla bomb - 25%, 400-550 g/m2, hybrid, gorilla glue x thc bomb
lemon skunk - 19%, 800 g/m2, hybrid
kripple shock - 23%, 450-850 g/m2, mostly indica
kush bomb - 25%, 600-700 g/m2, hybrid
red leicester tease - 21%, 500 g/m2, mostly indica
goldmine - 22%, 500-600 g/m2, mostly indica
la blanca gold - 21%, 450-600 g/m2, mostly indica, CBD
lsd - 23%, 700 g/m2, mostly indica, psychoactive
the church - 20%, 800 g/m2, hybrid
widow bomb - 25%, 400-550 g/m2, hybrid
crystal queen - 20%, 450-650 g/m2, hybrid

He appreciates the feedback and input from you experienced lot!!!

Lemon skunk? That's the only skunk strain available.

Any other thoughts or ideas?

I have no clue what will give the most resin production.
What I do miss in your list is this:
You state the yield for every strain, but you do state the amount of time it takes to get that.
What I mean: If you get 600 gr/M2 for strain A in 16 weeks, is it a better strain then strain B that gets 500 gr/M2 in just 10 weeks.

Another thing... 800 gr/M2 for a strain is possible, but it will have a long flowering and a long grwoing period.
And I guess you must be a experienced grower who has everything under control.

My apologies. These are all 8 week strains to keep variables constant, as they'll be grown together. I should have emphasized that.

My friend ended up starting...

Strawberry Sour Diesel
Widow Bomb (White widow x THC Bomb)
Gorilla Bomb (Gorilla Glue x THC Bomb)
K-Train
Pineapple Chunk
La Blanca Gold (medical strain, CBD/THC blend)

All beans popped and are transplanted currently. Let's hope for the best, I'll let you know how it turns out. My friend wants to narrow down to a handful of strains of different varieties and high resin production for extract. I'm not sure if high THC content is an indicated of that or if "white" strains are better than regular strains...

Thanks

I am really curious how it will turn out and what the yield will be.
Wish your friend succes and please keep us posted!

Thanks bud! I definitely will. My friend had a bit of trouble with root rot on an earlier attempt starting with rockwool -- he'll never do that again. His new process: 24 hour water soak -> paper towel method on a heat propagation mat until 2 cm tails (usually another 24 hours for fresh seeds) -> peat pellets.

He has in an aero bucket trying to turn around:
Exodus Cheese
Grapefruit
Green Crack
Cinderella 99
[He may get a couple of these to turn a corner]

*RIP / Died*:
Blue Widow <---- Round # 2
Sensi Skunk #1 <---- Round # 1
Pineapple Chunk (1st attempt) <---- Round # 1
LA Sage CBD <----- Round # 1
Early Widow <---- Round # 1
Diamond Girl <----- Round 2
Critical Blue <----- Round 1

He's doing perpetual harvest. 1 - 2x2 mother tent, 1 - 4x4 clone & veg tent, 1 - 4.5 x 4.5 flower tent, 1 - 3x3 curing tent.
He hopes to add a second flower tent (5x5) in time, so that everything moves to the next tent every 30 days. New clones from mother tent -> clone / veg tent shared -> clones -> veg containers -> veg to flower tent -> flower tent -> harvest tent. He enjoys concentrates and wants to make BHO and maybe Rosin too... unsure about yields of rosin; thinks BHO may give a better end result. He's aware that strains impact the final product significantly as well.

Some of the best extractions I've had were gg4, wedding cake, Tahoe cookies. White widow did well also . It's not an exact science but you will notice some strains def are gonna perform better than others .

Also the gorilla Skittles I just harvested gave me over 25 percent back which is the number I typically strive for . The Tahoe cookies was my best and it was well over 30 percent return

I guess he might have found what he was looking for over 1 year later.
Still I'd suggest oni seed co strains for extracts or known resinous plants like wedding cake, gg4 etc
