Heating harvest for more THC

I can already see where this article is going so I will sum it up to the best of my little brain's knowledge.

Cannabis naturally contains very low amounts of THC, the drug that gets you high.

But it does contain lots of THCA, which is a chemical that can be converted into THC but how?

Decarboxylating!

This is essentially what happens when you smoke a bowl. The heat from your lighter activates the THCA converting it into usable THC that goes into your blood stream via your lung capillaries.

This is also why edibles work vs just eating raw weed, THCA needs to be converted into THC to work. So when you baked your edibles you decarb the weed, activating the THCA and turning it into THC. You get the idea.

The same for making a tincture you need to decarb your weed first via the oven before allowing it to settle in your alcohol solution.

This article is basically letting you know what the heated "sweet spot" is to get the most THC out of your plant matter. This is why vaporizers give such a clearer high, they don't burn plant matter only vape off trichomes to be smoked with controlled heat.

So why arnt we all doing this to increase the THC levels of our final product by a substantial amount?

Its easy, its simple and it takes 30min

Because it happens instantly when we smoke or vape because of the heat/fire

decarbing is for cooking/eating

ahh ok. So the same amount is converted?

I thought if we smoked it, it wouldn't convert as much THC as this would due to the longer process.
