Heat tolerant/ no smell strain? Why dont they market one?

Stoners have so many issues with high temps and erecting proper ventilation for smell control. This would make total sense for breeders to do their research and come up with a strain that can stand the heat and dont emit the funk.

Obviously, some strains are more heat tolerant then others.
They grow dank in Jamaica so im certain of this.

And ive read hundreds of posts on here where growers talk about their crop not having the typical skunk smell during flowering but still finishing as quality bud.

How many threads are there about stoners who cant keep their temps below 90? How many DIy carbon filters threads have you seen? Fans too loud? Which Portable AC? Do i need an intake? And on and on.


They could give it a catchy name like Simple Sam or something. Noobs would be all over it.

maybe they could also make it so it grows in the dark ;-) try afghan landrace. it took everything i could throw at it.

actually, from what I read Mandala's strains are pretty heat resistant, and some are low smell
think satori isn't supposed to be to be bad, and another strain, white satin(maybe), another grower said it was real low odor

I don't think that's a dumb question. If you want to run with this idea, you would find a plant, select an area of bud that has a weak smell, cut it up into little squares and drop them into culture dishes with plant gels (Google: "plant growing gel"). Each square of tissue could grow into a plant. If you get a good quantity, say 100-200, it would be pretty easy to let them grow and pick out your favorites. If you don't get the perfect plant this time around, just do the process again. If your in a hurry, grow 500-1,000 plants. You may be able to get it in as little as 2-3 generations.

Obviously this requires some dedication and money. If you were to do something like this, it might not be worth it unless you can profit it off of it in some way -- unless your the altruistic type with a good job and lots of free time. Trying to sell an orderless cannabis plant doesn't seem appealing to me, but others might be willing to try it. People buy salt-less butter and sugar free rice patties all the time, so why wouldn't they try bland smelling cannabis. If you really think there is a market for it, go after it. Personally, I like a little flavor in my weed.

Nice idea, might waste a decade or so but i'd be glad to attempt creating such a strain in assistance. Mandala are currently king in my book, I think all the strains are heat resistant and most have a generally lower odour than average, plus they've got accurate descriptions and landrace genetics!

I'm always surprised no breeders have thought of just breeding together strains that currently have a low odour like Kali Mist, Northern Lights and Choc Chunk. I love funky stank buds, but imagaine how many more people would grow if they didn't have to worry about the olfactory problems...

You actually don't need a lab. The tissue culture part isn't expensive . You could do it all in your kitchen on the countertop. Plant tissue culture kits go for around $40 on Google or you could also make your own kit by picking up a few baby jars, some peroxide for sterilizing, a hobby knife, and plant gel.

Tissue culturing is all the buzz right. It's a very cheap method to propagate hundreds of plants. But there is still the cost of the lighting and nutrients. Pick up the December 2009 High Times magazine, there is a three page article on it.

DAMN RYAN! u got sumthin i agree with u on! haha but yea tissue culture set is 80 bucks at a hydro store. and all u need is a VERY clean erea, if u can grow shrooms u can do tissue culture. it a fact! all it is, is CLEAN AREA!!!! u r UNinformed u NEED to look into it too. might b the thing u were waiting fer, no disease clones, from a diseaded plant, a pestless plant from 1 RIDDIN with spidermites!!! its amazing dood! check i out!

TISSUE CULTURE 101! great article got me in to it. im creating a box right now! plexiglass, sealed with silicone and a hepa! + the fan of course. im a lil nervous of dooin it, i dont got the kit yet but i will and wen i do pIkS r goin up!

TC is the bomb and probably the future of cloning but the cost is in the 'clean air box'. Plus uber cleanliness and perfectionism isn't tops on the list of most stoner's traits. For $10 I can chop em, dip em, and mist em for a week and SHAZAAM! instant babies.

Anybody can breed a low odor strain, just keep breeding low odor phenos together and select for odor in the offspring. After 3 - 4 backcrosses you should have something pretty close to what you want, and it'll only get better with time. I just get tired of the same shit all the time! ; )

You took the words right out of my mouth. Mandala plants can handle heat. And white satin is supposed to be low odor. Some phenos of satori are not too stinky. But the stinky ones require some good odor control.
