Heat stress?

This is my first time growing. I have my three plants in my attic (which is like 95 degrees during the day). The attic has two windows and I have a fan in one of the windows for ventilation and air circulation. I have two lights for the three plants. One light is a flourescent and the other is a 150watt blue light bulb in a metal lamp shade(don't know name or anything) I water the plants and use a spray bottle to mist the leaves like every other day. i have the light cycle at like 18hours day/6hours dark and I have it set up so the 6 hours dark are during the peak daytime when its the hottest. I noticed some of the leaves are dying off and some are browning. Could that be from heat stress and if so, any suggestions on how to fix problem without moving the plants?

theres no need to spray your leaves.

It is to hot up there at 95.........You need to have the temp between 70 and 80 up there if you want those plants to be happy.

If you can get it at 85 at the most, you should be ok also. But you got to bring down the heat

But it isnt a bad thing. It helps keep dust and bugs off your plant. Just dont do it when the lights are on.

I would probably get rid of this blue bulb and just use flourescents. Unless you can afford to get a hps or mh light.

Its pretty hard to grow inthe attic. Thats where all the heat in the house is. I tried it once and failed.

co2 wont bring down the temp, but it will open up the plants pores so that it can take in nutes....you seriously need to address that heat issue

way to grow, if you still have even two living leafs on those plants then it can be brought back to life.

My temps shot up to 88F today for some reason so I've been researching heat stress. I found this:

It actually implies hotter is better, assuming the genetics of a plant is not a factor. It states that plants can not only survive at 95F, but also do quite well too. Not sure if there's any truth to it or not tho.

my plants are in the veg stage at "high" temps (82-97) and there doing great!! i had a vet. grower look at them and he laughed because he was shocked at how well they are doing . unless there wilting badly or not growing i think your ok . my plants do have a small amount of leaf curl at the edges other than that there just fine. thats just my experience at least.

yeah man i would have to say 95 is a little to hot.. i would say best is between 70 and 80 anything under 60 or above 90 can be harmful your plants

GROWERS BEWARE ! i have ruined whole crops thinking my plants could take 90+ heat, they can look fine (esp in veg) but produce airy , fluffy awful weed, do what ever it takes to lower your temps or get Co2 guys !!

well i live in an awful city were co2 is really high.but my plants seem to love it.my temp is 85-95 i am in flowering and my buds seem to be ok.day 23 and they dont seem fluffy.i would say the opposite.

well it depends on the strain of course.sativas seem to be ok with high temp some african indicas too.

at day 23 you will not notice, and even in the city the Co2 ppm will not be more the 600.

A quick tip - have the dark cycle at night... then it's darker for the plant and cooler - and obviously, this is how the plant would grow in nature - the nighttime aint going to be the hottest part of the day, is it?

i dont understand your post ganja ? my dark cycle is during the day, the colder nightime offsets my light heat, i couldnt run my lights in 85+ mid day temps , my growroom would be 105 +

you think so?maybe youre right but they look great.well my city is really really polluted.athens is the name(not the american were REM were from)

Word. My attempt to grow in that kind of heat didn't live up to my expectations. My next grow began in late autumn/early winter and my plants really thrived in the lower temps. The point is that it can be done, but your yield will be greatly affected. Address the heat issue now and you'll be much happier come harvest time.
