I have a couple girls going and my temps in the grow space are at 90f during the day I noticed even though its winter mind you.4x4x7 ft closet space mylar. I had a small desktop fan blowing in there up at an angle seemed to be around 82f. last few days its been up to 90 what I hae is 2 55w cfls for sides and a t12 floro 40x2 in there aswell anything I can do to get my temps down??? I should mention that my ballast is in the closet area too on a cement block.

I also picked up a 4inch flex duct hose 8ft piece and I had it in my closest window and the other end aiming at the desktop fan that was blowing in angled kinda at the hps and that was keeping the temps near 80-86.

I was told I should be trying to pull air away from the bulb hood not blow air on it so im trying to figure out a way as of now I have a big box fan blowing air directly on them into the room slightly angled towards the light and I have the hose end coming from the window aiming into the back of the box fan hopfully pulling in colder outside air . and I have the desktop fan mounted hanging over the top of the closet doorway so far im down to 84. but my door is open fairly good so light shows more.

I have a vent located on both sides of the hood that I could unscrew I was hoping to find a way to mount my duct hose onto the side of the reflector and pull air out with a fan.

Any ideas as to what I can do to get temps down during the day especialty

well I hae to crack open my door and use a box fan and all that does is blow air around Im thinking that I should be trying to pull air out of the hood

i had it in the room at one time but I have a plug in the area so everything was just kinda neater without cords hanging out of a door. ill have to try that then thanks man

i have a desktop kinda fan hanging in the doorways at the top and I have a hose going from the side of the hood up to the back of the fan kinda hanging behind it . So anyways I remove the ballast and the thermo reads 86. ill admit its not 90 but its still not 80.

I have my window near the area cracked at the top and cracked more so at the bottom. The only thing that seems to be doing is making the room cold and the grow area at 86.

The fan I have blowing out is about a 5 inch fan with a lil stand the moves on it im thinking it doesn't move enough air. I had the area down to 82 with the door somewhat open and the box fan going blowing in with the ballast in the area.

Seems like only going down 4f without the ballast inside is not much of a difference. I need to find a happy medium.

cannbliss can you post a link of what kind of fan it looks like.

Also I have the thermo which is just a round cooking type one with liquid inside of the glass on top of the screen and the light bottom of the hood is about 14 inches from the screen don't think that would be too close to harm anything.

No wonder the 4 inch fan is crap for power http://www.walmart.com/ip/Optimus-F-4040-4-Personal-Metal-Fan/25209563?action=product_interest&action_type=title&placement_id=irs_top&strategy=PWVUB&visitor_id=HM0KgW0q5uVdIm069mwLzU&category=&client_guid=10f79de9-27e2-48c9-8308-d7e4ddaa37ea&customer_id_enc=&config_id=2&parent_item_id=39889207&guid=2aa20d5e-fe0a-4ff1-b4c9-94c0e16837d5&bucket_id=irsbucketdefault&beacon_version=1.0.0&findingMethod=p13n

35 cfm prolly not pulling much air out with that. I bet this older processor fan from a computer pulls more air.

so I have updated alil I have added a 4 inch flange to the hood and mounted the hose I plan on upgrading the fan soon but so far its down to 77f at the screen with the same crappy small 4 inch fan in the door pulling air out.

I haven't tried turning off the box fan yet but at first all I was using was that 4 inch personal fan and I some how got the temps down to 80 when I ran the hose outside grabbing air and had the fan pulling in an tilted upwards at an angle aimed at the light.

However at the time I saw 80f the thermo was hanging on a piece of strapping on the left wall about up to my chest high not really on the screen . the screen temp reading prolly would have been higher.I also had the ballast in the area managed around 80-82f with cold air getting sucked in.

Im thinking once I get a better proper fan i will be able to put the ballast back in the area and keep temps in check. im at 78 with a box fan on the floor and the small fan at the top pulling air out the hood the duct hose isn't even mounted tight around the fan and im at 78f so far and I also have a window cracked at the top and bottom.

i am going to install a vent or metal grate of some sort above the entrance and blow the hood air into the main room

Are your girls showing any signs of heat stress? If not then I think your doing a good job so don't stress on it to much your plants will tell you if they don't like their environment :-)

A inline fan is what you need.

that's what I plan on getting they are 20$ on ebay however the ones I have seen appear quite long.

It kinda seems like I need a inline fan that is only a half a foot to a foot long. I haven't been able to find anything cheap that isn't looking like 2 ft of pipe. ill have to try it and manage and somehow fit it in
