Healthy seeds dont want to crack or germ!

I got some seeds from nivrana seeds (the official site that this great forum offers!;) and I ordered 10 reg seeds of short rider and 2 germination kits. I got them all a week ago and planted 2 seeds in the germination kits. A week went by and I didnt see any progress so I thought I would go and investigate. Dug up one of the seeds and saw that it didnt even crack!:-( I tried the paper towel method numerous times using water from the sink, regular bottled drinking water you get at stores and even tried boiling water and letting it cool down before watering but I had no success.:wall: I am starting to get frustrated because I haven't been able to germinate any seeds successfully other than my first bagseed which turned out to be a male... I am getting quite desperate and I do not know what to do any longer! Anyone have any ideas to help me out? I'm running out of them...

throw away those paper towels and glasses!
plant directly in soil, 1/4 inch deep.
always works for me.
and for everyone else.

Nature´s method is best.

Why do all the kids here think you NEED a paper towel?
I have no idea but the soil idea given by dormeo was the best the seed cracked and sprouted on the same day! It was amazing so surprised! Then I sat down for a while and thought seeds grew like that for millions of years before we even set foot on this earth.. It worked perfectly fine why change it?

sometimes tap water can be the problem and boiling it just compounds the problem..ph of 7.6 human blood is only 7.4
Wow man you really looked into this! Nice dog btw! :) It looks like the water was the problem! So far I know what works for me. My first guess is the water! The seeds came to life when I poured some bottled water from my hiking cup that had some left over in it (I dont like to waste water so I give it to my plants) and it seemed to do the trick! From now on my left over drinking water goes straight to the pot!

Doesn't just tap water hurt them though? I don't have any distilled water:/
Does not hurt at all actually the chlorine is good for scaring of any fungus. I think you are puting way to much work into it, Take some seed put them in 5 papertowles that have been neatly folded, three underneath two on top. Fold them so that they fit in between two plates use the plates as a humidity dome. Set the plates on your cable box or above your fridge someplace a little bit warmer than the air normally is. Wait two days dont peak, and like magic you have germed seeds.

face?
I like the papertowle method and I have a 98% germ rate, I have had only two seeds out of about 50 seeds not germinate. I germinate bag seed every now and then just for practice and fun. Hate all you want on paper towels but mother nature lacks the ability to create technology(Except for apes) and I dont.

quick tip for germing in directly in soil;
Don't bury them very deep.

Some "experts" say 1/4 inch or a half inch:o but thats too deep.
You can bury them 1/8 in and then cover them with a pinch of soil.
And keep the soil moist but not sopping.

Paper towel process was thought probably by some impatient guy who thought he was a genius.
It's not necessarily faster, bu you get to see the root!!:-P:neutral:
It's also not good to handle the seed after it's sprouted either.

......then again I used paper towel as part of my process because im still a newb. But I used sterile equipment.

AMEN!!! I'm about sick of reading about paper towels, saran wrap and all that mess. Just put the damn thing in the ground, it'll grow... :) I like to use Solo cups and starter mix.
