Hawaii Cabinet Growing

Alrighty guys and gals, being semi new to the indoor stealth stuff I figured I would start this up for all 808 indoor growers.I know, I know. Why when we live in a constant outdoor paradise? Well, not all of us can put the girls outside, or hike up a yama to grow. So here we go......

I am in the gathering stages right now for my first "cabinet" grow and could use all the help I can get
Design..suppliers....etc. It's not my first rodeo, just in such a small scale and just relocated from Southern Oregon.

I am thinking of re-purposing a hotel liquidation wardrobe. Its a lot cheaper than new. Try ordering anything over here....sucks for costs and shipping.

Any and all guidance or pointers appreciated.

Aloha, welcome to the islands

Is stealth a requirement? Tents are nice.
But if you must have furniture there are plenty of outlets and liquidation stores.

What kind of space do you have to work with?
A 4x8 plywood goes for around 40 bucks. If it's small, it might be cheaper to build from scratch or one of those all included kits from the hardware store. I have no idea what liquidation store prices go for though.

Soil? Hydro?
What island are you on? Some garden stores are a lot better than others.

Also I think I saw that you want to DIY LED? Best way to go indoor here imo. We have the highest electric rates in amurica :)

Sup bro, sorry i didnt reply to your message. That shit freaks me out lol. If your really tight on cash then just craigslist what your looking for. You might need to order ventilation fans and stuff like that online. Then hit up home depot or something for vents and accessories. Some hydro stores here will rape you for your cash. Sand island has a hydro shop that carries pretty much every brand of bottled nutrients and soil accessories but the soil is limited to the popular stuff like roots organic and fox farms ect, they have a few t5/t8 fixtures that are expensive as shit. There is a store somewhere in kahala i think, I've only heard about it but supposedly they carry alot of organic products if your into that. I just order stuff to make compost with online,I'm stuck on ROL soil, possibly forever. I think there's a thread on ROLS and NOTIL somewhere in the organic section of RIU. welcome to riu and the islands!

Thanks for the Welcome and the response.

Steath is kind of an issue, but aesthetics not important. I am looking at a used tent or two on Craigslist, but so far only one is of what I think is ample space and then some. I think 4x4 is good, but then again..I can get a 4x8 used which would be plenty and then some. I have been kicking around doing a cheesy PVC wrapped in Panda, but my gut say F no.

My main concern is coming from Oregon, even though I started inside an then put them out, I never had to deal with the humidity and ventilation problems.

I plan on Hydro drip, recirculating , with Coco/Clay as the medium. But the space being the unknown, I will build around my homemade tote system. I picked up a 3 gal and 1 gal smartpot today to see which may fit the bill as well.

Eventually I will have a hoop house in the backyard, but I haven't gotten a feel for how snoopy the neighbors are.

BTW: I am on Ohahu... in the Kaimuki area. Full east to west exposure most of the day, but again the snoop factor is a concern.

I am researching my butt off on LEDs and even H.O. CFLs.... I may have found some that could potentially kick arse. But wondering why I haven't come across anything on them. Will fill everyone in when the time comes...in case I didn't scour the forums enough.

Thanks and look forward to getting ideas.

I have been to the Kahala shop great guy there and I here his boss rocks too. Then I also have been to Ohana on Republican and Green Hands by Home Depot by Sand Island. Also I found the place on the Windward side, more of a Nursery with a Hydro Department. All of them really helpful. REALLY. But man, waiting for their containers is a pain. I will adapt to that though.

I plan on Hydro, so Organics are out. I had used Botanicaire in the past, but I was lined up to try Cutting Edge Solutions before I left Oregon so I decided to jump in with them. Ohana has them CHEAP...The place in Kahala has a good variety too, but they didnt have Cutting Edge on hand so I went with Ohana. Prices FYI are pretty much the same across the board....But I see a FIRE SALE of GH products Island Wide soon...F Monsanto!!!!!!!

Which place is on Sand Island? Nothing shows up when I searched. My thing now is trying to find Coco Premixed.....I heard Pacific Ag has killer deals but they dont answer emails.

I was working a Craigslist deal with a guy for a whole enchilada kit , but havent heard from him in a few days. I will look into the ROL as I am also gonna experiment with Super Hot Peppers and other veggies. Thinking a 200 Gal Smartpot for a predone Raised Bed...will see on that one.

Thanks for the reply...and all the info.

No more than 6 at a time... your nug box looks great!!!! Will probably steal some ideas....never thought of using the fridge...good repurposing.
Yea, it's insulated for temps AND sound, works great!
I'll probably pass this thing down to my son when I'm done with it.
I guess I better add that to my will, cuz I'm gonna need it for a little while longer ! :bigjoint:

Yeah traffic is a bitch. Takes me 45-1hr to drive 20 miles just to get home from work on a normal day. Accidents and road work make it way worse
