Havent started flowering yet?

My babies havent started flowering yet and im in SoCal. Shouldnt they have started by now? They have tons of preflowers already. Also what does the first development of buds look like or the start of flowering?

Calyx swell and the hairs (pistils) emerge from them.

Preflower is the beginning of flowering, sometimes it can take 14 weeks for a plant to finish, I live in Canada and plants havent started budding yet and it's the 45th parallel. I wouldn't worry, if there in preflower before Aug 15, your doing fine, your plant will most likey be ready to harvest 1st week of October, 1st week of november at the latest. they will finish in over the next 60day's tho prolly. Your on a lower parralel , so your photoperiod change will trigger budding a bit later, this month, the change is quick

So its normal for them to not be flowering yet?

Mine are the same as yours too.. they have preflowers but no real extreme pistil growth yet.. im in central ca

Purely strain dependent. Have some plants 3 weeks in and others in preflower still.

it is perfactly normal that they havent started flowering yet. when you grow outdoors you have no control of when the flowers will come out. u have to wait untill they feel its righte for them to come out. it depends on the strain u seeded, the amount of sun they get and many others. the key is patiants. as long as the plant keeps on being green and dosent show any signs of stress you well in the zone.

Hit em hard with 15-30-15 miracle grow NPK concentrate for force budding with a chemical fertlizer.

Would switching them to flowering nutes really make a difference?

no, what nutes do is increase flowering once they start, but they don't make it start flowering before time. if you want to make them flower- put them in an environment that will give them no more than 12 hours of sun light. i put mine in a room that has no sealing. the sun is strong and it hits the plant from 7am till 7pm and it works wonderfully. it is 4 weeks old (from seeds) and already flowering!

you have got to use flowering nutes if u want buds to come if u r useing veg nutes your prolonging the veg process

Nute changing won't make the Plant go into flower. It's all in the amount of light ( photoperiod) it's getting ( less it's an auto flowering strain). As it is, alot of people use veg nutes for the first week or two of preflower, before switching to flowering nutes.

I'm in SoCal, too, and I've got four of six that just started to flower towards the end of this week...and two that aren't showing anything yet. I wouldn't worry too much about it, they''ll start flowering soon.

yea mine has been preflowering for a couple weeks now, hoping it will start to flower soon im in western canada !

lol idk i guess im wrong according to these guys.. but thats what i did with my big girl and she took off like crazy!!!
