Have you ever had a ballast go down in veg?

So shortly before transplant from solo cups my ballast went out. I was using 600w MH on a digital ballast, got a replacement but it took a week. I took care of the plants in the sunlight by my sill because they were still too young for full sun. I watched their stems stretch out in the red light from the sun and I was worried the daylight might make them flower...
I get my ballast back and notice they are a little stinky.. After 3 days in back in light and they are growing hard at it on 18/6. I topped them 2 days ago and here's how they grew out the next day.

As you can see they are growing nicely but the new foliage has 3 fingers.. a sign that they may have been in flower briefly but then reverted to veg, correct?
What do you guys think?
If that assumption is correct, do you even think they're worth growing at this point?

Hey there,
You're doing great so far. Try and think of this as a marathon... Relax now because it's a LONG race. Things will come up that need figuring out - One day at a time. Vegetation, Flowering, Drying, Curing, and best of all at the finish line - Smoking

come on. ive been running elcheapo Apollo ballasts for 4+ yrs now at 100.00 a pop. and have a 3yr warranty. if you cant afford to have spares laying around, then why grow? shit happens, parts break. same thing with your vehicle. if it breaks down, do you just let it sit on the side of the road and have no way to get around town? same thing goes for a grow.

easy dude. I grow because I can't afford to spend 2k a year on anti ulcer medication. you don't need to be a shit. and yeah if my car breaks down that's life. I get it fixed or replaced because I can't afford spare cars.

im not trying to be an ass. I was a boy scout, an eagle scout to be precise. always be prepared was something instilled in me from a very young age, and is the boy scout motto. so I prepare for the worse, and have back up plans for nearly everything. grow items, emergency supplies incase storms, zombie war (lol), retainer for lawyer, ect, and cash money. you get the idea. be prepared or left hungry and on the streets.

word and as a boy scout you should be aware that some people dont have the same privileges in life that you were afforded or have earned. I have to worry about my debt, and growing (as much as I would like it to be) isn't top of my priorities. I can't just open a credit line and hope I can pay it off. that's being prepared for me.

I had a house about 8 months ago lose power for 10 days. I running about 8K in that house with plants in all stages. It seriously fucked everything up. I only hit like .30 per watt. root systems was fucked. But I didn't have any light 10 days of complete darkness. I was in rehab so I had no control over the situation

why one should always have a spare ballast, fan, bulb, ect. for those "in case shit" moments.
Lot's of cash to have laying around collecting dust, waiting for a failure that might not occur. Amazon Prime get's 99% of the hydro stuff in 2 days, which really not enough time to do any damage. Save the cash , buy seeds
