Have to harvest early, shoot for BHO?

Hey guys,

I have a small garden in my apartment but the manager just told me that they have to be out sometime this week. I'm in the very beginning of week six so her timing couldnt have been worse! the buds are still fluffy but they have a ton of trichomes frosting them. I don't think the buds would smoke too well so I was thinking about just shooting the whole harvest to make some BHO, which is actually my main method of smoking. I guess I'm just looking for any tips or suggestions about what you guys would do to a harvest that is still that young.

whenever Iharvest just a little early I always get kindof a jittery effect from the product Is it a legal where you live. other than the whole appartment thing? I would take them somewhere else to finish.... put a blackk bag over top and ove bottom and move them... you should own where you grow then noone can tell you what to do

I'm a medical patient in washington so I'm legal, the only place I have to possibly move them is an hour away so it's kinda impractical. I guess the fire marshall had a problem with the humidity and using an HPS bulb, I have a T5 rack though so i'm gonna see if i work on the humidity and switch lights and see if that makes him happy.

anybody know how the plants will bud if I switch over to a flourescent rack insterad of my hps? I know they won't be as dense but will they still be good buds?

I've said this in other posts. I had to harvest a plant when it was only in it's first month of flowering. The plant had about 8 weeks to go. The buds were small, rock hard and green apple green. The hairs were all white, and the trichomes were totally clear.
After harvesting and drying I gave the buds a month cure. After the cure the hairs turned completely brown and the buds ended up really dank. Maybe it was the strain, which was bagseed by the way, but it was some of the dankest and most powerfull bud out of the 4 plants harvested. The other 3 plants were expensive seeds from amsterdam.
I know this goes against everything we've read about and been taught, but I think the exact timing of the harvest is perhaps a little over thought in the grand scheme of things. Dry and cure your bud as normal and I bet you will be happy with the results since you say the buds are frosted with tric's and are fluffy. They will mature during the cure and you will get stoned. Don't make BHO, you'll be fine after the cure and they will be potent and smoke well.

This isn't my plant but this is what the buds looked like when I had to harvest it. Very early in the flowering stage but it turned out great. Go figure.

I've always wanted to experiment with early harvest to create extracts with different buzz effects. My early sativa is more like caffeine, quick jittery buzz that dissipates quickly. I would like to see if mixing this with matured fully cured indica would create a unique affect..Quick heady high with a longer deep body buzz with a smooth transition between the two. So much to learn!!!

So I should have already known the answer. I just squeezed the buds to check them thinking they were fluffy, and they are super dense! It completely took me by surprise! I guess I have really busy lately and not really inspecting the buds because the last time I squeezed em they were definitely still leafy. So I guess I'm set either way the landlord decides. I'm putting em into 5 gallon pots from 3 gallons because I also realized that my girls are super root bound, I can't even, stick my finger in... It's my first grow so this has definitely been a learning experience. Can't wait to start my next one!
