Total newbie here, The wife got her card so I'm trying to grow for her. First grow came out alright for not knowing what I'm doing. Learned alot since I read the threads but have a couple of questions. Keep hearing about lst and fim, what are they?

lst stands for low stress training, and it's pretty much bondage for plants... it's pretty much like it sounds.. you tie the plants down to keep them shorter, and also to redistribute the auxins much in the way topping or fimming does..

which takes me to fim.. fim is actually an acronym, which stands for fuck i missed... it started off when someone was trying to top their plants, but, you guessed it, missed the complete top, and instead they only cut about 3/4's of the main growing tip off instead of the entire thing, like one would do when they top..
give me a second, and i'll get a pix for both topping and fimming to show the difference.. :)

they are ways to train your plants to be shorter and bushier. that way you get more bud sites that can benefit from the lighting. also allows you to grow shorter and wider plants in a height restricted area.

lst is low stress training and is essentially the tying or staking down of the main stem to promote growth on the lower branches. you then tie them down and so on.

fim is just a topping technique that will promote multiple bud sites to form in the place of 1 that you have removed.

Yeah, I'm not big into LST, but I do like to fimm over topping. Its four vs two colas and your taking less leaf material which means a way faster recovery time.

oh, i love lst.. no recovery time.. :) lst works great though, you get more weight and you don't have to remove any possible bud sites in the process..
